More Summer Lab Warning: This post contains scientific stuff...read at your own risk.
Okay, so summer lab is suppose to be hell on earth, and...like I said in my last post...so far it hasn't been too awful. My group seems to be working well together except for the annoying one. Honestly I think I could strangle her. She loves to avoid doing her share of the work, and hover over you while you're doing yours. AND she tends to spit when she talks, it's gross. I'm going to have to tell her she can't stand over me while I'm working...first of all, I need my space; second, you spit when you talk and I don't want my computer to short circuit; third, you're annoying hell. We'll see how it goes though, I say when we run the evaporator we just put her in there or something. So far our team has turned in two proposals...well three as of this morning. Dr. Clark said our mixing paper will be accepted next time we turn it in, so no penalty on that one. Dr. Arnold didn't rape our evaporator paper like we thought he would. He did give us a 73 though, other groups have been getting 70s on their first papers. He scared us to death though because we had to say what weight percent solution we want. Our requirement was a minimum of 30%. We decided to go for 40 and put that in the body of the paper and then in the procedure had at least 30 written down. Then in our meeting, he wasn't really listening to how we figured our material balances out and what we (Justin) did in ChemCAD. Then we got to our paper and he was like so you say 40 everywhere except the procedure, then it says 30. We told him it said at least 30, and he was like no, no, it just says 30. We went through this for a long time, and then he finally said, you don't understand what I'm saying do you? We all looked at each other and were like....no. You didn't happen to have an old lab report did you? We all erupted with No and explanations....he thought we cheated. Which I guess is good because that means he thought our paper was too good. We didn't cheat, and the paper did say at least 30 percent. In another place on our paper he had it crossed out and had written, NO, We did the LAST summer. So he put okay by that once we explained and he understood that we didn't cheat. I think our grade would have been much better if he hadn't been pissed cause he thought we had an old lab report. But oh well, it still wasn't too bad. Right now we're all about to go eat, as usual and then we have a meeting at 1. Maybe I'll post more later, I'm sure I left out a lot. I hope everyone is having a more interesting summer than I am so far though. |
