8:10 am - Do you know what here means?!
Yesterday we had a blow up obstacle course at work, which was a lot of fun. The counselors got to pick teams and then race against each other, and we got to participate too as the anchor for the team. Anyway, my team was pretty decent and we ended up getting second. If I hadn't had HR who took his sweet time on the top of each climbing apparatus to make sure he did a perfect dismount off the other side we might would have won. I did get to go head to head with another counselor though, and now I know I'm not in any kind of shape but really, I wasn't going to lose...and I didn't, so heck yeah!

Later we let the kids race without us and one of them said he was quiting. They can't really quit because then we have random kids walking around aimlessly, and quiting isn't good anyway. So NW was on the bleachers and I was in a chair at half court watching the kids. I told him to come here and he promptly replied no, I told him again, and again he defiantly said no. NW don't make me come over there, son (yes I know, but if just came out) he still said no, and then finally got up and walked half way before turning around and going back yelling no I don't want to. I removed the child from my lap and slammed my water bottle down to walk over and get him. I brought him over in front of the chair I was sitting in and proceeded to ask him if he knew what here meant and that I didn't care what the girl on his team was calling him if I told him to get up and come here he was to do it...yeah he started crying. I actually felt like I had entered a Bill Cosby bit (if you haven't heard the one where he's telling his children to come here you should it's hilarious) anyway, I also told him he better stop crying and then we went to the office to remedy the problem.

I had dinner at mellow mushroom which was good, but I haven't worked out at all this week except for the obstacle course yesterday, which sadly made me more sore than the 5 miles and 4 hills. Oh well, I'll get back to it eventually. I ordered some shirts from Victoria's Secret the other day and they came in, so I've been trying them out. I wore one to the weekly dinner and one last night; I like them but they cling to my inner tube a little too much, so maybe they'll stretch out some or I'll start working out again and work on my pooch.

I am thinking of switching to live journal because blurty is always down so if anyone has a suggestion for a title for my live journal let me know.

11:46 pm - Yay for weekly dinners
Today was a water day at camp, and I finally ventured out of my baptist upbringing and wore a two piece to work cause I wanted to get more sun. It wasn't that bad, I tried to keep my wife beater on at first but it got soaked and there really was no point to it any more. Anyway, the water day was fun, I pelted some kids with balls, squirted them with the hose and threw some of the in a pool of water...fun times. The guy counselors tried to throw me in all afternoon, they really need to work on their technique because I can't see them talk or look at each other and then begin to circle around me...uh huh. They "got" me at the end because they both came up to get me while I was pretty far away from the pool and I didn't want them to injure themselves while trying to pick me up to throw me in...so I just walked over there and threw myself in. So, yeah, they really didn't throw me in at all, but we can let them think they did.

Once we got inside I changed and put my bathing suit top and wife beater on my car to dry off. Rach and I were sitting at the table and the guys shirts were laying there so I decided we should hide them...we did. I was not as mean as Rach and didn't put C's in the ice maker, which is where she put G's. The guys found out and being the boys they are put my bathing suit top...somewhere. I didn't have time to look for it today, so eh. I am going to take left overs tomorrow and tell them they can't have any until they tell me where it is...it should work, they are just guys after all.

After work I came home to straighten the house and cook. Pete came over around 6 to start cooking. He made chicken Fettucini Alfredo, which was very good. I made spinach artichoke dip, blackberry cobbler with homemade vanilla ice cream, and chocolate cherries and pretzels. I think my stuff turned out alright even though the cobbler didn't rise like it should have, oh well. The company was good, and it was a good time as usual. Oh and since tying a cherry stem in a knot with your tongue came up in conversation, I figured I'd try it out...I can totally do it.

I've now gone two days without working out, which is very sad...I did so well last week. I have to get up and run in the morning.

9:53 am - I'm seeing spots
Yesterday afternoon I tried to lay out with Rebecca and Carey, but we didn't make it very long because it was sooo hot, even in the water. We decided we'd just go get ready and have dinner and then hang out at my place. On my way back from Carey's I was pulled ever so slightly in front of the white line to turn back onto 69. The folks on 69 got the light and this SUV starts honking and the guy in it was pointing at me...I was like come on now I know I over the line but it's not like I'm sticking out in the intersection or anything. Then I realize the guy has a huge Florida Seminole thing on his SUV...it was one of the counselors from camp, I'm glad I didn't give him any other hand gestures before I waved at him.

I made King Ranch chicken for dinner, which turned out alright. I also had some corn casserole left overs and cake. I went to get Rach after I put the chicken in the oven since her car is broken and we wanted to go to church this morning I figured it'd be easier if she came and hung out and then just stayed here. We watched 16 candles first, and then Eurotrip, but were good. Then sad to say we watched room raiders about 4 times and then 2 episodes of date my mom. Those shows are so bad, but you just kind of get sucked into 'em. After that Rebecca and Carey left and I got in bed around 1, not too bad.

Since the hills got me yesterday I wanted to run the same route this morning and not be beaten by the hills. I ran with Pete, and we started out around 7ish again. I started out alright, but ended up running fairly slow even for our slow pace. I did make it up the hill where I stopped yesterday and to an intersection after the hill...we'll say I stopped there to check for cars. This is also where I started seeing spots for a second, but of course with my very sympathetic running partner there to "encourage" I kept going and we made it the whole route, 5 miles, 4 big hills. I don't like running with folks cause I am so bad at it, but I wouldn't have made it the whole way had I not been running with someone, so eh. Anyway, I don't know what route I will run tomorrow, maybe I'll try something different...we'll see.

For now, Rachel and I are about to go to church where one of the other counselors goes. Lunch I'm sure will follow, I hope everyone is having a good weekend and avoiding the heat if at all possible.

11:07 am - 185.00 for my niece to be a cheerleader...insane!
Yesterday, camp was pretty fun. Go carts came in the morning, so the kids got to ride around on those and learn a little about safety. Listening to the people talk was like being in driving school all over again, which sucked, but oh well. Hopefully, the kids didn't learn too much from the safety folks considering they ran into a van in the parking lot when they were putting the go carts up...I guess they were too busy looking for fake road signs and missed the parked vehicle.

After lunch we went to the pool since we didn't go last Tuesday because of the beautiful weather. Applying sunscreen was gross as usual, one kid did have the kind that comes in like a chap stick tube so I used it on some other kids faces which was much better. Anyway, the pool was fun CG and SS played with me most of the time. CG would surf on my back and they both tried to do some flips and stuff, it was fun...I love those two girls. While Casey was surfing on me one time our director was apparently walking by and he loves to dunk the counselors so you always have to be on the look out for him. Anyway, I come up to breathe and didn't have my eyes open yet when I hear CG say, "No Mr. Robert (director)!" Well, I had to look out for her safety...and mine so I opened my eyes really quickly to see him standing there and I just kind of whacked him. He says he was just going to the deep end and we were in his path...I don't believe that for a minute, but oh well. I do love this job though, I get to play with kids all day, I can hit my boss and not get in trouble...it's great.

I closed yesterday as usual, and it wasn't too bad because the kids are always pretty tired after the pool. We played the fun sweeping game, then I cleaned up the office while C "watched the kids"...and sent anyone that had a problem to me. When R and P got back from taking the fans, I asked what she had heard about the molds the kids made on Wednesday when we went to Sloss furnace. They didn't give them all to us, and so they want a description and a number of what we're missing...some people from AIDB (Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind) were there with us and, apparently they had a little trouble identifying their molds. I didn't even have a comment for that one...it was great. I also got to make fun of C who had several bad comments to make about how they could have even made a mold...if they couldn't talk, blah, blah blah. Good times.

Last night Rebecca came into town and Jennifer, Rebecca and I went to eat at Chile’s. I had my second medium rare steak...it was excellent. We had a good time catching up and then went and played putt putt with some other folks before coming home to make some ice cream. Homemade orange sherbert is just feakin' awesome. Carey came over for a bit too, so that was good. I also got a drunk dial last night around 2, thankfully I had just gone to bed so I wasn't really asleep yet, but that was my first drunk dial so maybe it'll be my last one too.

This morning, I went running with Pete again. His job was to find route that was less than five miles and had no hills, I was to meet him at the rec at 7. Well, when I get there he tells me he's made a shorter route cause there are a couple of hills. We ran over every freakin' hill on campus, and at one point my cadences ran out. Now, I normally run out and just replay them, but this time I ran out at an odd time if we were running, a lot less than five miles. I figured we were probably running more than that after we had been going forever, but eh. I did have one mp3 incident, it fell out of the little holder...my fault, but still. So we had to stop to fix it, that got a little and then the second to last hill killed me so I had to stop and walk. We walked for a bit and then ran the last hill, where he decided to tell me he had cut some of the run out in the middle. Of course he also tells me that it started out at 5.5 miles in the first place...I had some names for him. I didn't die though, and we ran about 4.5 miles and walked about a half a mile, so not too bad total. Still, I was exhausted, but eh. Hopefully laying out at the pool later and relaxing will help with that.

9:12 am - Happy 21st Birthday LeeAnn
The snooze button was only pushed 3 times this morning, so I rolled out of bed around 6:30. As soon as I walked out the door the humidity hit me...gross! I headed off for the bridge, and the sun wasn't out but the air was just so sticky. I made it across the bridge and back up to the other side, not quite as easily as yesterday, but it still didn't kill me. Instead of going back to the house from the bridge I decided to try and do both routes I've been running and I turned to go up University. I did have to stop for traffic when crossing Greensboro on the way back but other than that I did fairly well. I ran to hackberry, then down to Bryant before heading back to the house. Eventually I couldn't feel much of anything on my right side except when I tried to breathe in and out there was a nice little pain in my side. I figured since I couldn't really get much air in this way I should stop...sad day; I did make it back the stadium which was about 4.3 miles running this morning, almost 5 with the walking. I'll get to 5 sooner or later. I also saw a number on the scale this morning that I haven't seen in a while, which was exciting. Granted I don't trust it at all considering I must have lost about 5 pounds in sweat while running this morning, but eh.

Go carts are coming to camp today and then we're going to the pool since we missed last Tuesday...because...it didn't rain, but whatever. Rebecca is coming into town, so we're all going to eat once I get off work. She surprised me last night when she IMed me, hey if I come by tomorrow will you be there. I had no idea she was coming, but it'll be good to see her, I haven't seen her in a while now.

Oh, and Happy Birthday to LeeAnn who is now legal! We will definitely celebrate when you get back to the states. Since I will be legal soon after that!

10:02 pm - Tattoo on the lower back...might as well be a bull’s-eye
Camp went well today, and was rather relaxing actually. Bible study was okay, I taught the lesson and we worked on the books of the Bible. I didn't get to work with them like I wanted too though because we couldn't split them up into groups. Anyway we got through some more of the Old Testament, Joe, Songs, Problems to be exact...we're working on it though.

On Thursdays we order from Ken's and another counselor takes the kids orders in the morning. I normally try to help them hand out the food at lunch, but it drives me crazy because it's VERY unorganized. Well, today Rach and I were the only girl counselors there for lunch, so we got to give out the lunches. It was so much better. The problem is also in the way the orders are taken though. There are three groups at camp and that's how they come to get their food, but the orders aren't taken by group they're just randomly written down. Also, we had a few kids today get the wrong thing because it was written down wrong. SO, I got to use excel, yay, and I made a nice little spreadsheet. It totals the orders and gives the amount we should have so there's no wondering how much money we should have blah, blah, blah. It's color coded for the groups too!

Since it's fairly warm in the gym and we didn't have any major activities for the kids to do today we watched two movies in the youth suite (it's air conditioner works). I haven't seen space jam and the lion king in forever, they were good. I did take a little nap during space jam, eh oh well. I saw another movie tonight with Jennifer, her friend, a guy from their program and Rach. We went to see wedding crashers, I thought it was very funny...a little raunchy I guess you could say, but still good. I'm pretty sure Jennifer thought it was appalling for the most part, but eh. Sadly though I paid with my debit card because I didn't feel like looking for the 0.75 that I didn't think I had. Well, they charged a fee for using a debit card and I ended up paying 8.50ish for the movie instead of 7.75 which was bad enough. I don't think it was worth that much, but eh, it was a funny movie.

8:08 am - The bridge is mine
I only hit snooze 4 times this morning, and I drug myself out of bed around 6:40. Today's goal...the bridge (and steps) that about killed me on Sunday. Armed with military men screaming in my head, I took off for the bridge this morning. The run down there was not bad at all and I made it to the steps without a problem. Down one side, dreading making it up the other. I ran up the other stair case though without a problem and then back across the bridge...it's a gorgeous view from up there. Counting seemed to be my only problem this morning because I ran to 9th street instead of 8th, so I went a block out of the way but oh well. Other than that the run was good, and about 3.2 miles. The new goal is to get to where I can run both routes (the bridge and down to the coliseum) in the same day; that would be close to 6.5 miles. I do need to get some more running cadences though because I only have 4 of them and they don't last very long. Okay, so yay for running the bridge; I don't know why it was such a problem on Sunday...oh wait, yes I do, because it was hotter than blue blazes outside. Anyway off to work.

11:14 pm - Dang food network
The field trip for today was to Sloss furnace in B'ham. This was a good trip...it would have been better had it happened in, oh say November when it's not 90+ outside. Most of the day we were outside and walking around the old furnace, but it was interesting. The kids got to make molds and then watch them pour molten iron into them...I'm pretty sure I lost about two pounds in sweat just standing there watching them do this. Sadly the kids acted like they've never been anywhere, so that was bad, but other than that it was a good trip. I was exhausted afterwards and just wanted to sleep, but that didn't happen because only three of the kids on my van were as tired as I was. Plus, my driver is slightly paranoid and a talker, so I figured I should stay awake. I've never been one to be in the front passenger seat and fall asleep anyway, I just feel like it's my duty to stay awake for some reason...oh well.

Once we got back to camp it was snack time and then we played the fun sweeping game. The kids move all the tables and chairs out of the way and I sweep, then they move them back...fun times. I really will be glad when I have kids cause I can make them do stuff like that...it'll be great. We did have one slight incident after snack, NW hit CM in the nose and it "bled" according to Cody. Yes there was a little blood and I did the good counselor thing by getting him ice and telling him to hold his head back and sit down...it wasn't that bad, but whatever.

I was going to run tonight since I missed this morning, but it was just plain hot, and after being at a furnace all day I just felt the need to stay in my 80 degree house instead of running in 90 degree (feels like 100 degree) weather. I will get to the bridge in the morning though, as long as I wake up.

Mom called tonight and apparently my brother's wife's house burned this morning...something about the electrical wires in the attick, I don't know. Anyway, she didn't call mom until tonight but oh well, everyone is fine and have a place to stay. I actually feel for them, that has to be awful. At least no one was home though.

Mom's other news was, we should all go see Herbie, it's a very good movie. She said to see it with a "light heart" and that she, daddy, and the kids all enjoyed it. Anthony even stayed awake, which is really good for him because he tends to treat movies like church...he's out in about 5 minutes.

7:54 am - New alarm clock
A while back my regular alarm clock feel off my bed for the last time, so I've just been using my phone. Well the problem with that is my battery isn't doing quite like it should here lately. It has gone dead twice now during the night...and then, well I don't have an alarm. Needless to say, I didn't get up at 6...or 6:30 this morning. 7:40 was more like it, so sadly I didn't get to run...I am still going to get back to the bridge, I guess it'll just have to wait until tonight. Off to work for now.

10:32 pm - 100 baby!!
This morning, I finally got up around 6:30 and ran 3 miles (according to Google earth). The running cadences are just awesome and it really wasn't that bad a run. I think I might try to tackle the bridge that almost killed me on Sunday again tomorrow if I can get up.

We went to the pool today, and I actually think I got a little sun...not much, but every little bit helps. The water was kind of gross though because it was so hot; not that it's ever really clean with all the kids in it, but eh. The kids were alright today even though I gave several of them time out at the pool because they wouldn't work with me in Bible study.

After work I came home for a little while and then headed out to driving school. It was at the Mariott hotel behind Ryan's steak house, which I thought was odd but better than the jail. The thing did last the entire 4 hours, but the guy doing it was upbeat and we had this workbook to fill out that kept me slightly occupied. AND they (he and his wife) had candy for us, so yay for free candy. If anyone needs to know anything about defensive driving I can lend you my work book...and I did make a 100 on my test, so I could probably help you out. Thank goodness that's over though, now all I have to do is take in my certificate and pay my ticket.

10:49 pm - Two days in a row.
This morning the plan, as usual was to get up at 6 to go run. Of course, I didn't get up at 6, but I did haul my lazy butt out of bed by 6:30 to hit the road. I acquired some running cadences last night, and they were freakin' awesome while I was running this morning. I'm not too good at keeping a steady pace while running, so these things help a lot, and they're way more motivational than, relax don't do it. My iriver did very well this morning too, it was a good run. I made it 2.6 miles, according to google earth (very nifty little program) and tomorrow the goal is 3 miles and 3 days in a row.

Camp today wasn't bad, but we didn't do much either. Our new YK (yankee kid) is funny, but I feel bad for him. He seems to have some emotional issues, which for some reason I don't deal well with...don't know why that would be. Anyway, he likes to cuss and feels his life is worthless and people hate him because they yell him...all at the age of 7. Hopefully coming to camp will do him some good, he can break dance with the best of them though.

Tomorrow there will be another weekly dinner, but I, unfortunately will be attending driving school instead. I'm glad it will be over after tomorrow though, then I can pay the thing, and watch my account take it's final large unecessary drop for the summer (I hope). My class is from 6-10 romorrow night, and I'm still not quite sure where it will be so I guess I'll need to figure that out before 5:30 tomorrow. Some of the counselors were talking about bowling tomorrow night from 10-1 so that would be fun if it ends up happening.

I guess that's all for now. I will keep you posted on my exciting evenging tomorrow.

8:09 pm - Lappy is back!
Yesterday the plan was to go to the pool, and then wash my car, hoping to get sun most of the day. When I went outside to see if it was pool weather AND there was that box that had given me so much trouble on Monday. They got my laptop on Wednesday and I got it back on Saturday so that's freakin' awesome! I didn't make it to the pool cause I was working on reloading stuff and all that good junk. My ride did get washed and vacuumed though, so that was good. Pete came over and fixed my internet and some other stuff and we had lunch at Taco Casa, which was very good. Then I spent the rest of the afternoon, reaquiring my music. I can't even tell you how much I love having my music back. Rachel has been talking about Ruby Tuesdays forever and then they were talking about going on Tuesday after work and going bowling. I, unfortunately, have driving school Tuesday night. So sadly I will miss the weekly dinners, but I might still get to go bowling with the other counselors. Anyway, I have been craving Ruby Tuesdays since Rachel started talking about it, and I finally felt like going so I went there for dinner. It was great, and I had my first medium rare steak...and a blondie...YUM!

Today I woke up and went to Calvary, eh. I have to find a church I like up here, maybe Rach and I will go to PC's church soon and see how it is. After church I was in a cooking mode since I have my lappy and winamp back. I fried some prok chops, made a corn casserole and a cake. It turned out alright, but the frosting didn't set properly...it tasted good though, I think. Pete came over to eat lunch and then decided to make me run. Now I have been running during the week and finally got up to 3 days in a row last week, but I'd taken Friday and Saturday off. I've been running either early in the morning or late in the evening so it's cooler. The weather when he decided we should run was 89, feeling like 98...GREAT. I told him I would die cause I've only been running 2 miles, without hills, and sun. *Sigh* I went anyway. We drove to his house so I could run back here and then he could run back.

There's this lovely bridge in between our houses, and this really great stair case that you have to run up to get to the bridge from his house. Let's recap, I've been running on straightaways, no hills. But no, this wasn't a hill, just stairs according to Pete, blah. The breeze on the bridge about got me, and around half of the way across it I knew I wasn't going to make it all the way back to the house. I did make it across the bridge and down to 8th street, as soon as we turned that corner...the breeze stopped and the heat was just insane. I am not good at keeping a steady pace because I like to run faster when my legs start hurting so they'll just go numb, but Pete made me stay on pace and I did make it back to my house. I just about stopped when we got down 8th street a bit, but then I would never have heard the end of it from him for stopping that close to the house...so I didn't My radio was telling me to though, cause it was playing, relax don't do it. NOT what I needed in my head at that point. I've been wanting something other than my radio to run with though, so I also broke down at got an iriver tonight.

Now I just have to wake up to stick with the running in the morning.

9:05 pm - I'm just poofed
Today we went to vision land for our field trip; when I first found out who was in my group I was a little disappointed because I had 3, 6 year old girls. I love to ride the rides and do all that stuff, but I figured my girls wouldn't want to ride anything. Anyway, we get up there around 10 and of course it starts to pour, but thankfully it stopped soon. The girls say they want to ride the Ferris wheel first, so of course I assume that's about the only thing they'll ride and then we'll go to the water park and stay there for the rest of the day...which wouldn’t be bad, but I'd miss the rollercoaster and stuff. The Ferris wheel was closed since it had just poured and we head on up to the next part of the park, which is pretty much like a fair with a few extras.

To my surprise the girls then tell me they want to ride another ride. It's the thing that goes in kind of an oscillating circle and goes forwards and backwards and the guy it suppose to tell you to SCREAM if you want to go faster...this guy sucked and said nothing while we were on there, but eh. They all did well on that ride, and when we were moving on to a spinning type ride ML sees the Zoomerang at the top of the hill and is like, ooh I want to ride that. Well, I'm totally stoked, but still not getting my hopes up cause having a scared of everything 6 year old niece I know once they actually see the ride up close and hear people screaming the ooh let's do that turns into...umm, no let's go back to the merry go round. I tell her we'll check it out once we get through with the other rides and see if she still wants to do it. They enjoyed the turning ride, the kiddy airplanes that you can make go up and down, and the mini coaster.

Then we get to the bottom of the hill, SS has told me that she also wants to ride the zoomerang by this point. We meet up with one of the guy counselors and three blue group (oldest kids at camp) boys who are waiting for folks to come back from riding the coaster because they are too scared to ride it. So we stand there and watch the thing for one go around, SS promptly says, I think we should try the Ferris wheel again. ML, though, says no I wanna ride this yellow roller coaster first. YAY, I get to ride a ride. I didn't do too much discouraging...well none at all really, and my group of girls headed up the hill. I let M and SS on the platform (yes I informed the coaster workers that they'd be waiting there and there was a mother with our group on the other platform) and ML and I strapped in. The ride was good, not the best, but very good. It takes you up then shoots you through some loops before coming back and then shooting you through the loops backwards. Let me just tell you, ML is about one of my favorite kids at camp now...my little thrill seeker did GREAT on the ride.

SS did ride the space shot or string shot or whatever it's called with ML and me, and hen we headed to the Ferris wheel, a river gorge, and the pirate ship (3 times). Lunch came after the rides and then the water park. Splash beach was good; I went down one of the slides twice with ML, twice with M, and once with CK. I wanted to ride the one straight shot free fall type slide, and so did ML but she wasn't tall enough and I never had a chance to leave my kids with someone else to go ride it alone. Oh well, it was still fun. The only suggestion I have is that we get camp issued bathing suits like we have our T-shirts because it is very easy to spot a kid in a neon green T-shirt...no so easy to spot one in a regular bathing suit when they're in a huge kid play pool with tons of other kids.

We had dippin' dots after the water park...which are just freakin' awesome AND I got a funnel cake for the way back. We told the kids that it was adult food and that it tasted awful and would make them sick. Of course we still had to eat it cause I had paid for it, it was fun...I did give ML a couple bites before we got on the van though, cause she rode the rides with me. Once we got back it was about 5:30. I walk into the office at one point and hear a couple of counselors talking about SS leaving her towel. This bothered me cause SS was in my group and I had made sure they all had their stuff. J checked the van and nothing was left, so I figured SS had just told me she had everything and felt bad that I didn't check her bag to make sure. I went to make the drinks for Monday and came out of the kitchen to see a blue towel on the table. I recognize the towel because SS had cried earlier that day because her brother had taken it from her, and well, she's a crier and will pretty much cry for any reason. So I ask her if it's her towel, and she replies, well I have once kind of like that. I think it might be. *Eyes rolling* Is it yours SS? Maybe. Geez, so I asked her brother and yes, it was her towel, she didn't leave it at Visionland. Bless her heart; she's going to have to marry well because she's just in her own little world.

Finally, at the end of the day LW (a supposed demon child that I really like) plopped down on the bleachers beside me and with a VERY serious look on his face, tells me, well I'm just poofed. You're poofed? Yeah, poofed like a donkey...I have no idea where that came from, but I'm definitely going to start using it.

10:38 pm - Field trip tomorow, wohoo!
Camp was fairly uneventful yesterday; the board games were a hit, but still not all that interesting. This morning I woke up at 5:45 and some how had the will power to not hit my snooze button at all. I got up and ran to the rec. From my house I went down to campus dr to get to the rec, and the hill that starts a little bit past Publix about killed me. I did make it up the hill, but had to walk some after that. It was about a mile before I had to walk, but then I made it to the parking lot of the rec and walked around to the door from there. Once I got to the rec I did arm stuff and ab stuff, and then headed back to the house. This time I took a different route; I walked up the hill to university and then ran back to the house. So I ran from Warren's tire to my house and according to my odometer it's like 1.7 miles, so eh. Round trip it was about 4 miles, I ran about 3 of them. Still not good, but not awful either.
Work today was good, a little stressful but good overall. During Bible we were talking about Saul and his conversion on the road to Damascus. My co counselor was doing the lesson, now I know I have a slight southern accent...but I don't say night and light with a drawl. Anyway it was a bright light that came down to blind Saul, and I couldn't help but laugh on the inside and think of a bright white light in the night when she said it.
We did crafts after lunch which was the stressful part of the day because the guy counselors don't help with crafts...because they're guys. The craft wasn't extremely difficult, but could be slightly confusing for the kids, so that took a while. We watched the incredibles after snack, which is a great movie and then I came home. I haven't done much of anything since I've been home, and now I'm going to bed. Hopefully I will get some sort of running in before I have to be at work at 8ish to head out to Visionland.

8:39 am - Snooze buttons are the devil
The plan for this morning was to get up at six and go run. Well, my alarm went off at 6...but I didn't get up. I pressed the snooze button several times and finally drug myself out of bed at like 6:35. Now the problem is not waking up, the problem is getting out from under my covers and out of the comfy, cozy spot I've made while sleeping. What I need is an alarm clock that rips the covers off of me when it goes off that way I won't have to make myself push them off and get out of bed. Granted I might just try to take them back from the alarm clock and rip it to shreds, but eh that might get me up too.

Anyway, I did get up finally and I went running. Had I gone at 6 like I was suppose to the sun wouldn't have been an issue at all, but it still wasn't bad. Today I ran down to Coleman and up that little street that cuts through to university and does by moody. Then I came back down university and made it to right before the shopping center with cold stone in it. So I went about 2.2 miles and then walked back to the house for about a 3 mile trip. Not bad, but I'd still like to get up to 4 or 5 miles. I probably could have made it all the way back to the house today if I just hadn't been thinking about it, oh well. I really need something other than my radio to run with though because morning show folks just don't cut it when I'm running. I need some good rap or something to keep a beat going.

Work today will probably be boring cause it's bring your favorite board game day. Maybe the counselors will play ultimate or something while the kids play their games though...I still have to learn to throw it the other way to improve my game.

11:32 pm - Weekly dinners
Tonight we had the second weekly dinner (that I've been too, there have been three) and it was a good time. Since my father always feels the need to send me back with enough fish to feed five thousand, I had a bag full of fillets taking up space in my freezer that we put to good use tonight. I also got to get rid of some shrimp and gumbo that was taking up room. Anyway, Pete made a sauce that dad would have been proud of...it was excellent. I helped broil the fish and heated the gumbo. It was a very fancy meal for college students, and looked like something Paula Dean would serve up on the food network. OH! and I got to use one of the random pots mom has bought for me, my 3-in-1, one of the three being a steamer which we used for veggies tonight. The Kims and Jerica brought tea, salad, and bread which were all very good...I don't think the tea was twice as sweet as mine like Pete claims but it was very good. I made an eclair this afternoon and used my new homemade ice cream maker a lot this past week, so I also took orange sherbet, chocolate and peanut butter ice cream. To shorten a long story...it was a good time. Great food was prepared, eaten and some taboo was played, good times.
Today at camp was alright, we didn't get to go to the pool because it looked like rain, so we went bowling. The first game my kids played I didn't get to participate much except for telling them to sit down and pushing the rerack button. However, one kid finally realized he should let me at least help him and I bowled his first one each frame in the second game. For about five in a row I would get 9 and he'd pick up the spare, it was great. I was also bowling the first one for the kid behind him in the line up though and tended to get strikes for him; oh well JW got more practice than CW and they both killed everyone else. It feels like forever ago, but I had to go in work early this morning too, so hopefully I can continue the waking up early and go run in the morning. Six is going to come WAY TOO early though. I guess that's all for now, maybe I'll post about disappointing Dennis tomorrow, the great quotes from my parents and about our hurricane party. The party stuff can be found over at Pete's site if you're interested and just can't wait.

8:32 pm - No lappy for a while
My computer has been giving me a blue screen error for the past month and then yesterday morning it did some crazy stuff and decided it didn't want to start up anymore. So of course, I talk to someone else (Pete) about it because I know nothing about computers and he says it sounds like my hard drive...great. The good thing is my warranty is good for hardware until next July, so I call the circuit city folks. Now, like I said before I don't know a whole lot about computers, so I wasn't looking forward to talking to a tech person on the phone. He had me try to repair windows, which I had already done about twenty times...it didn't work, go figure. Then we went over the error message from yesterday and the other one I had been getting this month; he of course said they pointed to software problems. I told him if you google the BS one it talks about hard drive stuff, and that it seemed like more of a hard drive problem since I had received that message several times and now the computer decided to corrupt a file randomly (all from Pete of course). Anyway, it was clear the guy didn't want it to me my hard drive and according to protocol I have to do a system restore (wipe out my lappy) and leave it alone for 24 hours to make sure it's not a software problem. I had to wipe the thing out in the fall, which I told the guy, but oh well; I got to do it again. Fun times. He said we could check the event log in 24 hours and see if there were any problems without having installed anything. Again I got to sound like I knew what I was talking about because Pete had already had me check the event log, so yay for that. The guy still didn't believe me though, so bye bye all of my stuff. Thank goodness I didn't really have anything irreplaceable on there and I have most of it backed up from the last wipe out.
I called back tonight and guess what...I had the same error in the event log. This guy was much nicer though and said right off the bat it was my hard drive, good for him. He did start talking to me in computer geek language though after I told him something Pete had said...so I had to tune him out for a minute...other than that he was a nice guy. Anyway, they are sending me a box within 2 business days then I get to ship them my laptop and once they receive it I will get it back within 10 business days...basically I will be without a computer until the end of the month. I can use Megan or LeeAnn's computers so it's not horrible but I will miss having my lappy in my room where I could surf the net, watch TV and lay in bed all at the same time. Hopefully it will be good to go when I get it back though.
In other news, the pier made it through TS Cindy but Dennis isn't looking too good right now. I'm supposed to go home for the DIYAT this weekend, but that's up for debate until tomorrow because of the category 3 hurricane looming.
I went running tonight because my alarm didn't go off this morning. It's a good thing I woke up, but I did have to rush to get ready and ended up wearing last years pink shirt instead of this years. Oh well, at least it was pink and a camp shirt.

9:08 am - this is going to be an awful hurricane season
Work yesterday was fun, we went to the pool and I actually think I got some sun. The gash on my leg was doing well until Robbie decided to climb on Marshall's back. That would have been fine if Marshall wasn't on my back, but he was and my leg got kicked a few times. Then Robbie proceeded to try and flip me by grabbing, of course, my injured calf. Oh well, I knew something would happen to it, but I wasn't going to sit out two weeks in a row at the pool so eh. The important thing though, is he did not succeed in trying to flip me and, once I threw Marshall off, I flipped him, so yay for that.
We had the dinner party last night and I think it went well. Once I got home from work Jennifer and I worked on the salad and the fruit. I carved a watermelon basket that turned out decent; the handle broke but I fixed it with toothpicks. Pete cooked the meal, which was very good and his friends came over to eat. They were really nice, and I'm glad I got to meet them. We were suppose to watch a movie while eating, but that didn't happen...I don't mind since I never actually picked the movie like I was told to do. Pete's friends had to leave after dinner, but Jennifer, Rach, Pete and I played cranium. I love the game, even though I'm not very good at it. So all in all I'd say it went well and I'm looking forward to next week's.
This morning I actually only hit the snooze button once, and then got up to go running. I have come to the realization that I am severely out of shape. I've never been a good runner, but I was at least decent in high school when I was forced to do it. Oh well, I made it down to Coleman and back to Calvary (about 2 miles) then I had to stop and walk a bit, so I walked to JD's and ran back to the house. It was a 2.5 mile trip and I probably ran about 2.25 of it. Granted someone walking could probably beat me because I'm so slow, but I figure I'm probably making 10 or 11 minute miles...not awful, but definitely not great either. I did a little jump roping after a short rest and then showered.
Mom called around 8:30 and apparently tropical storm Cindy was worse than suspected. She came in around 4 this morning and the folks feel we've probably lost the pier. The storm was headed for Texas at one point, but ended up coming in Louisiana and then headed up east along the coast to us. SO she came in with high tide and we were on the east side (not good!). Anyway, dad will be sick since he just finished rebuilding the pier about three weeks ago, but that's the chance you take I guess. Now I think I'm going to take a 15 minute nap before heading out to work. Yes, exercise is supposed to give you energy, but I think it works best when you've slept a decent amount before it. I do feel much better now since I went running; I just have to keep it up. The goal is 4 or 5 miles eventually...we'll see.

12:13 am - Back in T-town
This morning, I played a little Monopoly with the kids. I was suppose to play with them last night, but I went to see the newly weds and some friends so mom played for me last night. She didn't do the best job, but oh well. Anthony made a huge trade to acquire board walk when he already owned park place (I told Ashley not to do it, but she did) and he ended up owning that whole corner by go. There were hotels on his properties soon, and Ashley went bankrupt when she landed on boardwalk...she should have listened to me. It was fun playing with the kids, but then mom and I had to drop them off with my brother's wife so they could spend some holiday time with her.
Then mom and I hit up the Walmart and some fruit stands and came back home to hang out and load the car. I met Rach and her mom around 2ish and we did some more loading then headed back. The ride wasn't bad, but there was no speeding to be done because we were always behind someone going the speed limit...dang speed limit.
After dropping Rachel off and helping her unload I came home and unloaded all my junk, and then got in my weed eating gear. Daddy gave me lots of instructions on how to run HIS weed eater because it's finicky. I was also told to wear jeans, tennis shoes, and sun glasses...so I did. The weed eater started right up for me and I went to work, our yard looked like a car could park there and no one know...it was bad. Being it's July in Alabama, I got a nice workout in my jeans and tennis shoes, and now the yard looks much better. I also potted some new plants and swept off the porch.
Once the yard was taken care of I started on the house. Vacuuming is about the most boring thing in the world, but we've got to do it to get rid of the fleas. I did have some excitement today though when the vacuum cord knocked over a ladder in LeeAnn's room. The ladder proceeded to fall on the back of my leg making a nice scrape that likes to bleed. Since I didn't have a band aid the right size I taped a paper towel to my leg and finished vacuuming. The refrigerator was next on the list, so I cleaned it, and cleaned it out. Finally, I tried to arrange the daisies mom sent back up with me. Let's just say I was not born to be a florist, but I think they look decent.
Now I'm finishing up a load of clothes, so I'll have my camp shirt for tomorrow, and deciding if I want to run in the morning or not. I hope everyone had a good 4th of July, good night!
