8:32 pm - A Sunday outing with friends
|
And we discussed business in general...
I scanned across the room. Kids in a corner, loud laughter, carefree chatter, loads of beer, not really too worried about the day to come.
A middle aged couple sat two tables away from us. Coldplay "Lost" started playing softly in the distance. In the gathering dusk, dim lights came on in the seating area. Medium intensity lights, focussed entirely on the tables in front. The beer glasses shown brillinatly on every table.. The couple spoke intensely, worry and some concern in their faces. Obviously some topic of severe concern within the family was being discussed, the beer just had brought it to prominence.
An elderly gentleman sat in the corner. Overweight, shaved head, Ipod in hand , staring intensely at the screen. The years have moved on, somehow he has struggled to keep pace.
The music changed and in that moment, multiple images and thoughts flooded my mind as the alcohol kicked in..
One Republic's "Say" came on loud and clear from the distance...
The kids...I been there in those chairs years back, that was my past being re enacted in front of me.
The lyrics came on clearly through the haze of human chatter...
Do you know where your heart is? Do you think you can find it?
Or did you trade it for something Somewhere better just to have it?
The couple argued more vigorously, and I thought saw tears in the lady's eyes...
Well, bless my soul You're a lonely soul
Cause you won't let go Of anything you hold
The elderly gentleman put down his Ipod, picked up his beer, and looked out into the distance with a sad look on his face. The kind of look which says that his mind is a million miles away ..away from that table..away from that pub he is sitting in.
Do you know what your fate is? And are you trying to shake it?
You're doing your best and Your best look You're praying that you make it
I suddenly saw what the future can look like, a multitude of problems, a lifetime not caught up on, a professional goal with an enormous personal cost, a girl who I want in my life, but the economics of it all does not allow the freedom.
The math.....is not adding up....
The music kicked on to a crescendo...
Whenever the end is Do you think you can see it?
Well, until you get there Go on, go ahead and scream it
Just say it
Just say it

7:05 pm - My life..in Technicolor
|
The song has been playing round and round in my head all day. Coldplay rocks as they always did :) Glad that some things dont change with time :)
Time came a-creepin' Oh and time's a loaded gun Every road is a ray of light It goes o-o-on Time only can lead you on Still it's such a beautiful night
Oh love don't let me go Won't you take me where the streetlights glow I could hear it coming Like a serenade of sound Now my feet won't touch the ground
Gravity release me And dont ever hold me down Now my feet won't touch the ground.

12:36 am - Aftermath
|
Compelled by calamity's magnet They loiter and stare as if the house Burnt-out were theirs, or as if they thought Some scandal might any minute ooze From a smoke-choked closet into light; No deaths, no prodigious injuries Glut these hunters after an old meat, Blood-spoor of the austere tragedies.
Mother Medea in a green smock Moves humbly as any housewife through Her ruined apartments, taking stock Of charred shoes, the sodden upholstery: Cheated of the pyre and the rack, The crowd sucks her last tear and turns away.
`` Sylvia Plath

11:39 pm - For N who I have deeply disappointed...
|
She stood near the entrance of the castle. far away in to the expanse beyond all she could see was green. Clouds gathered on the sky above across as faint winds signalled the arrival of the unseen storm. A faint drizzle of rain broke across the terrain and across her delicate face. " Are they coming, should we get help?" asked a worried Sergeant. A simple frown streaked across her forhead, she turned and looked at her small team of soldiers, five with her, skilled in combat yet at this moment their numerical strength did not match up to the hordes of the engaging enemy raiders.
She glanced across the faces of the five, uncertainty and a hint of confusion lingered over them. Somewhere deep inside it hurt her that the ones she liked to be with had to go through this, a war with this limited number of soldiers meant certain defeat and possible humiliation. Her soldiers should not have to go through this, she thought. A gentle frown lingered on her delicate forehead. The rain started to fall heavier and with the crack of thunder in the distance, steady heavy marching steps of armed men appeared...
She turned to the red horde marching towards the castle entrance in the pouring rain. She saw the grim determination on the 5 faces in front of her. SHe smiled softly to them, deep down a gaurdian like gentleness appealed to the protector in her...she had trained these five, trained with these five, laughed with, listened to them patiently when they had their troubles to tell, cared for them long hours when they were heartbroken and had no one else to turn to...Humiliation was not going to touch them, not today, not under her watch, not like this...
"CLuster together guys, back to back, move to the middle of the courtyard", She said quietly and firmly. "FIght back to back and dont move away solo, remember the training, remember all we have done so far", The Sergeant, Major, Private and the 2 Brigadiers lined up in a tight circle within the gigantic courtyard, as the enemy drum beats reached a crescendo...
" General Should we get help", asked the private in a shaky voice.
" No" she replied with a soft smile, "this is our moment, this is exactly where they know who we really are", the Brigadier slowly smiled beside her , unsheated his shining broadsword and said, "on your command general..."
Multiple wars, numerous fights later she knew one thing for a fact, it took more than a few reds to take one of them out. She was the general of an ancient clan, as ancient as time could tell. She knew the art of war, and knew it well.....warriors from across the lands had fought her and tasted the blade of a sword, strange how the confidence levels had shattered in a few moments...yet she was also kind, a giver of mercy who understood the flaws of human behavior...
Today there would be no such gift, she slowly unsheathed her broadsword and held it out in the pouring rain, lightening crashed in the sky as her mean rallied and took up positions around her, faces determined , they unsheathed their weapons.
" They call themselves the elites", she said and laughed quietly, "how arrogant can you get..."
" We are the elites", she roared, " Put these clowns to the test, show no mercy....not today...not to them.." Lightening crackled across the sky as the red horde began their charged toward the small group in the middle of the field.
Lightening streaked across the sky as the five stood back to back with swords shining from like lava scrolls...held up high in strike formation....

6:37 pm - The Trek
|
" This is insane", he almost yelled. 42 degrees in the burning sun and 5000 steps uphill to walk had done this to him. Several days of practice and yet this trek to the temple was breaking him. Sweating profusely he marched ahead 500 yards and stopped. " No use", he headed back.
He turned around, and found a handicapped man with no feet using his arms to climb up each stair one at a time with determined focus.
Something snapped, he turned towards the mountain top, and looked at the enormous deity.
The deity looked down from his enclave ....into him...
And smiled...
It does not take much strength to do things, but it requires great strength to decide on what to do.

|
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go To the place where the sidewalk ends.

11:15 pm - Stupidity
|
I could not find another word.
Okay, I'm going to give a shot at the G-MAT. I'm going to convert this blog into a prep record of sorts.
I have a feeling this will get me no-where.
What the hell, as long as it's a stupid idea, I'm game to give this a try.

It started out as a feeling Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought Which then turned into a quiet word
And then that word grew louder and louder 'Til it was a battle cry
I'll come back When you call me
No need to say goodbye

The Brahmins say that in their books there are many predictions of times in which it will rain. But press those books as strongly as you can, you can not get out of them a drop of water. So you can not get out of all the books that contain the best precepts the smallest good deed.
