For anyone who likes a bit of Punk Rock (influences: the jam, the clash). My cousin is a member of a Sheffield based band called Acacia Avenue. They are performing at The Corporation, Sheffield on Friday the 28th of May. Tickets are now available! Fantastic band live (& I'm not just saying that because of family ties!) Check out the Official Acacia Avenue website >>HERE<< & the NEWS section for information on how to get a ticket!

So if your in the Sheffield area be sure to check them out!!

[ music | Surpergrass - Mama & Papa ]

Thank jesus there is a community for anglophiles. :) I saw Placebo live about 5 years ago, and I think it's safe to say I've been an anglophile ever since., bands I like from the UK/Ireland are (they're not all Britpop, but I figure I may as well list them all): Placebo, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, the Cure, the Clash, the Sex Pistols, Joy Division, New Order, David Bowie, U2, the Revs, Supergrass, the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Coldplay, Duran Duran, Cyclefly, Oasis, Gorillaz, Blur, Manic Street Preachers, Prozzak, Travis, Robbie Williams, the Smiths, Pulp, Suede, the Stereophonics, the Beatles...and there are probably many more, but I can't think of them at the moment.

Right, that's it for now. Ciao!

[ music | manic street preachers - australia ]

so that's interesting! searched for radiohead and found this community.

anyway. i like pulp, blur, supergrass, manic street preachers, placebo, radiohead, coldplay, muse, idlewild ... (most of these i wouln't call brit pop though).

have been to three radiohead concerts so far, each one unique and great. also saw coldplay and muse live, but unfortunately i haven't been to any blur concerts during the blur and 13 decade.

maybe anyone of you is interested in my report of the radiohead concert in berlin: it's here.
well. see you.

holy crap! there are people still running with the flame of brit pop THANK GODS!
WOW, and i discoverd there's an actual term for my obssesion with the english! wow i reaaaaaaaaallllllll love it here. SOme one made a comment about blur not being good anymore....I completely agree. What the fuck is wrong with damon? he's turned into such a self indulgent, cheesy pc brat. What the hell was he leading a war march for? as Graham Coxon once said "there goes damon educating us again." i love the old damon. *sob* bring him back!! where the hell does he get off kicking graham out? it's not blur without graham. i refuse to buy any blur album without graham on it! i've been a dedicated fan for 7 fucking years i never thought it would come to this. I'm trying to cling on to brit pop but is slipping from my grip. that's why i was so excited to find this community! btw i used the 'similar user search' and this community was #2! pretty damn cool!

[ music | blur - Think Tank ]

Saw blur Saturday night. Unbelievable. blur is officially (note the italicisation, that means it's really legitimate) the BEST show I have ever been to. Jackie and I arrived early enough at the Tabernacle to be in the front of the crowd, right at the stage, and as we hung out with our new friends (a group of three people we recently saw at both Hot Hot Heat and Modest Mouse) and watched the Moving Units open, we inched even closer. The concert was truly unbelievable, it was so great. These were among the brilliant epiphanies of sound that forever changed the way I experience music:

The Universal
Girls and Boys
For Tomorrow
Song 2
She's So High
Music Is My Radar
This Is A Low
To The End
Out of Time
Crazy Beat
Good Song
On the Way to the Club
Brothers and Sisters
Moroccan Peoples Revolutionary Bowls Club
Gene By Gene

And, to further accentuate my schoolgirl-like obsession with Damon Albarn, he touched me during "This Is A Low". Damon. Touched. Me. It's not every day the lead singer of your favourite Britpop band reacheds out and grabs your hand. Unless you're his mother.

ah, the introductions.

I moved to London last year and I think part of the reason was that I'm obsessed with the music. I grew up with The Beatles, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones, then Joy Division, Stone Roses, New Order and Talk Talk, more recently The Verve, Radiohead and Doves are definite favourites. I'm also a big fan of Pink Floyd, Pulp, the Manics, the Clash, The Smiths and the Cure. You can find me tracking down rare Radiohead bootlegs and trying to find out if Richard Ashcroft is playing a gig anywhere near me soon. Did anyone else go to Glastonbury this year? Fantastic.

[ music | Radiohead - True Love Waits ]

Hey. I just bought tickets to see Radiohead in August, so I'm just wondering if any of you could share any concert stories. Also, since ive never been to a concert before, im not quite sure what General Admission means. Will we still be able to get a decent view of them if we arrive early? Your input is needed....thanks.

Whew. [23 Jun 2003|02:58pm]

This is the first community I've joined here, but obviously (for me, at least) the most relevant. I am American but for some reason am the most fascinated by British music.
Anyway, the ones I go for are the Stone Roses (my favorite), Radiohead (almost tied with the Stone Roses), Travis, Coldplay, the Sundays, the Flaming Lips, the Beatles (of course), Led Zeppelin, Depeche Mode, the Clash, Queen, and recently, Erasure.

My reason for posting this is to kind of get everyone's opinion on Radiohead's latest "Hail To the Thief"... I, personally, see it as refreshing and am fascinated (as usual with Radiohead) by most of it... What are everyone else's feelings? There are alot of mixed reactions....
