    Time Event
    9:18a
So I'm back in Corvallis, which has been fun. My roommate is fun. Our housewarming party was really fun, except that one friend brought along a few of her new friends, who I think had the wrong idea of our party. I think they were expecting it to be somewhere they could just trash and leave, so they got completely wasted and by the end of the night, said friend's boyfriend was laying on our bathroom floor unconscious, said friend and female friend she brought along were sitting around him crying, insisiting that they had to keep their fingers in his mouth to keep it open so he'd keep breathing. I was pretty annoyed because I would never intend to host THAT KIND of party. Ugh.

Yesterday morning my phone rang, and it was a number I totally did not recognize. The caller was my friend Alex. When I was 19, I went on an immersion trip to Tijuana, and one of the kids in the group was Alex. Our whole group got REALLY close in those 12 days, and to some degree we've all stayed in contact. Alex joined the military once he got out of high school, so he's in his fourth year of it now. I think he gets really homesick, so he calls me every now and again. Yesterday, he was in Guam. It was 4am his time, and he was walking back from the bars because they close at 4 apparently. He was pretty drunk, but not incoherent. We were just talking for awhile about what he's been up to, and I could hear his buddies in the background, and all of the sudden, one of them said "Who are you talking to?" Alex said "She's a friend of mine from back home." The buddy (who was drunk) said "I want to have sex with her!" and Alex said "Don't say that, she's my friend!" I laughed really hard and Alex said "did you hear that?" and I giggled and said "Yeah. Tell him I'm not going to have sex with him!" Alex said "Hey dude, she's a nice girl. She's not going to have sex with you!"

You know, I find nothing more flattering than being shown that kind of respect. It reminds me a little of the time I was over at my friend Chris's house with a bunch of people, and Chris was trying to get me to drink. I said I had to drive home, I couldn't. He said I could have his bed. Then he said "You know, I'd share my bed with anyone. But you are one of only two people that I would completely give it up for." The fact of the matter was that I didn't want to drink anyway, but it was soooo flattering to me that by sticking to my convictions, I'd garnered so much respect from him.
