You probably won't believe me, but I lived in Japan as a child. Best damn years of my life, even though I did something really STUPID in the end and got kicked out (so to speak) of the country. Yes, I am that retarded.
A girl I used to be friends with--Maryanne, or Ania as she is now called, left Texas for Poland (she is of Polish descent, I think) and she hadn't updated her site in a while. She's depressed cos Poland is very different from Texas. That's not surprising. Even if one's been to another country, the culture shock and homesickness can still take its toll on you.
