Dubbed the 9/11 of India.
As I sit here listening to two men in their mid 20s express their growing (and now matured) disgust for the concept of religion, it really makes me wonder if anyone is to blame. The attacks on the towers in NY, the London subway blasts, the Bombay train blasts, and now not long after: the 3 day terrorist siege in Bombay. Is religion the actual root of all evil? That could be both blasphemous and an awesome irony. The second option being my personal favourite.
I'm not a religious person. I'm not a good Muslim, at all. I adore the culture and traditions but doubt the beliefs and history. Does that mean I'm doomed to burn in hell?
Every religion (that I think I know of) proclaims that its path is the way towards God and towards an afterlife in heaven. Doesn't that mean, by default, everyone will end up in hell? (Assuming that heaven and hell do exist that is.)
I've been taught that converting out of Islam is the equivalent of death. Does that mean I'd lose my identity as a living breathing individual, should I turn to Hinduism or the Bahai faith?
Worst of all, these terrorists sacrifice themselves for selfish reasons - to be served in a 'paradise' of 99 virgins and unlimited food and drink - and what reasons they are indeed. Is the Islamic heaven an equivalent of a vast brothel and an all you can eat buffet spread? What then if the terrorist is a woman? If I killed myself in the name of Allah, would I be granted 99 buff and sensitive men who cater to Me night and day?
Listening to them makes me wonder, in the spate of all the atrocities committed in the name of religion, will our current and future generations slowly render religion extinct? Is faith, hope and prayer just a grand farce? Come to think of it, it may just as well be a major money making industry and what a great idea that is too! Creating timeless commodities that may bring about withdrawal symptoms in people as they age and/or go through pits in their lives - who'd have thought of it?
As of now, I'm not too sure what my personal take on religion is. Like anything else, it has its pros and cons. It is sad however, that religious fanatics have made the Islamic concept of Jihad (defending the religion) such a joke. Jihad is not the stocking up of AK-47s and grenades. It isn't killing masses and masses of innocent people on the pretext of protecting overly conservative beliefs. It definitely isn't a fast-track lane into a heaven which promotes Lust and Greed: only 2 of the 7 greatest sins. No biggie there.
What I do know is that I speak for many when I question the ties between religion and violence. That I vehemently believe that if religion has become a device of 'divide and conquer', then we're better off without it. I don't need the false hope that somehow, somewhere there is a divine entity that cares for me enough to give me what I ask for. Neither do I need to know for sure whether we're here due to evolution, or if Mother Earth has been created by the Big Bang or the Big Guy. All I want, for the sanity of the world we live in, is that the violence please stop. That religion remain religion, and greed be classified as greed.
And God, if you're really around somewhere? Point your little finger and start making things better. 'Cos right now you're really slacking on the job - in the recession of faith, God can get sacked too.

Thank god for Abubu, Rin & Ritz who came over. Just feeling so spaced. I just really wanna leave now. Mom's gone to KL (again) and Lubi's at an overnight camp in school, so that leaves me with my beloved father and his mother. Joy to the world.
There's nothing good on telly tonight either. What a bummer. Wish i could find something else to do man - other than making more and more lists & clearing my room to be packed. URGH.

Such were the viral images beamed all around the world when poor JT missed his penalty. Stings doesnt it? And all because we're human and (surprise surprise) we do tend to make the odd mistake. Not being involved in the situation itself may shed a humourous light on it all, but at what cost? Then it comes back down to human nature, to allow one wrongdoing overshadow all the laudable you may have achieved till then. If such cynicism tickles the likes of critics without a cause the world over, how then must he himself be dealing with it all? Here's a speech by the great man himself..someone who's passion and humility definitely overrides what the media has stirred into an unnecessary sensation.

So my Dearest SOB Father got back last night, after a month or so, and our first major fight didnt even have to wait that long. Yes i need AU$7000 for uni at the moment, is that so fucking hard to digest when ive already bloody informed you wayyy back?
That's just for starters. Our convos bout uni have usualyy gone this way:

Their family seems great and all but why cant i just be alone..thats all i want. a few years of my own time and space. Apparently thats too much to ask.
Here's to the next 2 months of endless fights, to my dad making me dance on eggshells around him, till the moment i get on the plane to leave. a part of me wishes it would just crash on the way.
I'm not ingrateful, i thank God every day, for the smallest graces..But dear God, please give me strength. Strength and patience..it's all i ask for.

Why's it people spell out god with a capital g.
God.
Is it a sign of respect or something? Emphasis on his omnipresence and stuff? Importance maybe? Well then f Fuck.
I'm losing things that matter to me. Have been losing. Past perfect tense right? Or whatever. Cos of things i've done and am doing. Present perfect? Not sure either ways. I'm pretty damn sure happiness is a non-entity, forget being intangible..cos when you think things're finally getting better they have this loove-bloody-ly habit of turning around and biting you in the ass. Just when you get back up.
