how I got thru my shitty home life!!! [21 Feb 2006|06:11am]

I have been a Nirvana fan for years! I luv Kurt! I think the biggest thing for me was since I came from a very unstable home & my parents were fucked up I would sit in my room for hours & listen to Kurt speak to me. I felt that he understood so much about me that the people around me could never understand. I became very obsessed & starting learning all that I could about Nirvana & Kurt & then came the death part...=(

I will always have a place in my <3 for Kurt & I will always <3 Nirvana & what they stood for, what Kurt stood for...no matter what some people say or think about him or the band! I was introduced to Nirvana by an ex boyfriend & I can remember the 1st Nirvana video that I seen on tv & I also remember that I was pretty high that day & my ((then)) boyfriend said that I went into this trance like state...well, that's what Kurt does for me!
P.S. Oh, just to let everyone know...I don't get high anymore! Yay for me, recovering addict! =/

RIP Kurt <3 xoxoxoxo I <3 KDC 4 EVR!!!

More than a decade after the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, residents in Aberdeen, Washington, have finally decided to commemorate the life and accomplishments of the most famous musician to surface from their tiny city.

On May 13, the eight members of the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee held a meeting at Aberdeen City Hall to discuss how to best pay tribute to Cobain. About 25 members of the public showed up to throw around ideas, which included erecting a sign on the bluff of East Aberdeen that pointed out Cobain was born in Aberdeen; building a commemorative park in or near the downtown area that would include a graffiti wall; and creating a Cobain youth center focusing on music and art.

Members of the committee and the Aberdeen City Council are looking at two privately owned parks that could be developed into a memorial. Earlier this year, they considered changing the name of North Aberdeen Park near the Wishkah River to Kurt Cobain Memorial Park. The river was immortalized in the 1996 live Nirvana album, From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah.

Committee projects to pay tribute to Cobain will be funded through private donations. Donations to the Kurt Cobain Memorial Project are presently being accepted at all branches of the Bank of the Pacific.

Members of the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee include Cobain's grandfather Leland Cobain, Aberdeen City Council member Paul Fritts and the arts and entertainment editor of the local paper The Daily World, Jeff Burlingame.

The population of Aberdeen is around 16,500, according to the 2000 U.S. Census.

I can't help but to think about how much courtney love should just fucking die! I mean Look at how many peoples lives she has destroyed by kill one of the greatest men to ever live.. of course I'm talking about kurt.. But I mean think about everyone else besides that I can think of 3 people off the top of my head that she has killed.. whether it was by herself or had someone do it for her it was still HER that killed them... there was the one girl from Hole that tryed to leave, Kurt, and the one guy that said she offered to pay him however much money to kill kurt and then they found the guy dead after he let that be known publically. She should fucking rot in hell! Think about how many peoples lives he's touched and the great things he did. Idk I just can't help but get the worst thoughts in my head when i'm looking online at a music website and there willl be a thing about courtney's new album or something, she should of been the one that fucking died not kurt!

Does anyone know where I can get ahold of the lyrics for the songs on the Outcesticides. Most are versions of popular songs but earlier and with different lyrics.
I've been searching for forever and a day and found nothing.

I have an honest to bob question, no drama intended.

Okay honestly, who in here has read Cobain's journals and not felt like they were totally going against his wishes seeing as how he WAS a private person and by buying/reading/recommending them, you are just going along with what Courtney Love's plan is, to snare people in to sheling out big bucks for somethnig that Kurt Cobain would never allow to be published?

Am I the only one that can consider herself a fan because she listens to the music, or in this big record industry world, do I have to shell out the big bucks to buy every peice of merchandise with the man's face plastered all over it just to say I have it?

I honestly feel like someone is twisting a knife in my gut when I see his journals sitting in the bookstores for 30% off and it kills me more when people tell em that if I "really want to understand him" I should read heavier than heaven nd the journals, both of which were overly endorsed and practically written /directed by miss love herself. If you want to truly understand kurt, listen to the fricken music.

KURT COBAIN Biopic In The Works - Apr. 16, 2004

The WB Network is developing an original movie about late NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The network has obtained the rights to Charles Cross' 2001 book "Heavier Than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain". Robert Munic ("They Call Me Sir") has been commissioned to write the script for the untitled film, which could get a primetime berth as early as next season.

"The day Kurt Cobain died was the day the music died for a generation," said Tana Nugent Jamieson, senior VP of the WB's new longform original programming unit. "His story is perfect for our audience."

No casting or director is attached.

The film will trace Cobain's life from his troubled youth near Seattle to his pioneering role in the emergence of the grunge music genre as the lead singer and guitarist of NIRVANA.

Quick re-vamp of this layout.
Yes, I'm aware it's exactly the same as the one at my livejournal community. I am lazy and feeling uncreative.
If someone has anything particular in mind, or possibly even wants to have a shot at creating a layout, let me know. I would be more than happy to have someone make this community look spiffy because I really don't have time at the moment.

Yeaaaahhhh.

Take care, kids.

Tomorrow is the 10 year anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death. I would wait to post a tribute post until tomorrow but I won't be online at all tomorrow (well to check my e-mil but that's because I'm waiting for an important note from my professor).

Nirvana has done a lot of great things for a lot of mediocre people. In death Cobain gained ten times the fans he would have had when alive, most of which are fifteen year old fangirls that want to glue his ashes together and rape them. *confused stare*
But along with gaining a following of teenaged fangirls, Nirvana has a small (but growing) following of artists, people that have true respec for what the music really is.
'm not going to go in to a long rambling entry on how "nirvana saved my life" or how "Kurt has insired me soooo much" etc because that's cliche'd bullshit. Nirvana has inspired a lot of people, some deserving, most not.

I actually did have a reason for this post (and it's cross posted to every nirvana community on LJ, blurty, GJ and DJ).
Something I'm sick of:
People acting like Heavier Than Heaven is the bible for Nirvana/Cobain fans. People quote that book as though it is the ultimate truth. As a writer andaspiring journalist (granted my journalism will be more in the form of documentaries not books) I am appalled by Cross's presumptuous attitude in Heavier than heaven. One thing people forget about most journalists is how they stretch the truth and exaggerate. Cross may have many facts in that book, I'm not denying that, but I'm not going to take it as the ultimate truth about Kurt Cobain's life because most of the information in there was something no one but Kurt would know. Cross didn't know how Kurt felt about situation X Y or Z. Cross didn't know what Kurt did after he lost his virginity, or in his last days alive.
People need to learn to take biographies with a grain of salt. Don't just assume everything is true because someone did research. Doing research doesn't make your exaggerations true, just the facts they're based on.
I don't know if that made sense, of if the people in most of these communities would really care seeing as how most Nirvana/Kurt Cobain communities are full of teenage fangirls that love announcing their unhealthy obsession with a dead man as if that's some sort of badass bragging rights.

Me? Bitter and Cynical?
Naaaaaahhhhh

hmm.. this is my first post to this journal... but.. i dont know.. nirvana has always been the biggest thing in my life since i was 9 years old.. and now 10 years later.. i guess the whole anniversary thing coming up has got my mind drifting off to kurt cobain and how much he's influenced my life over the years.. and ive been repatively listening to songs.. but i guess i figured i just throw something in the air.. give people something to talk about.. but i wanted to talk about the song paper cuts.. ive never heard a song by nirvana i didnt like.. kurt cobains voice is like my minds orgasm.. but i admit.. paper cuts.. i always kind of over looked in the sense that i never realized exactly how fucking great the song is.. the lyrics themself are very powerful.. but the vocals.. the vocals sound like he's in little room.. talking to himself.. trying to contain and control his emotion.. and then he explodes and freaks out but cant do anything but scream and convulse around because he's still locked in that room....
yeah anyways.. thats about it..

something for you to envy )

I upgraded my tattoo (I dedicated my entire left arm to Kurt Cobain, for those of you that don't know) Over spring break a friend of mine that is a tattoo artist added in the nex installment of the tribute, a gorgeous portrait of Kurt Cobain right above his name.
The next installment I get will be a heart made of clovers surrounding the picture (which is why the hair isn't all the way done, it's going to flow into the clovers).
On my other arm is the In Utero angel and underneath it I'm going to have a small portrait of the guys done inside a heart made of the word "Nirvana" (Hard to explain but you get the idea)

So look at the picture and start the envy!

Happy (late) birthday Kurdt.

Funny story, I shunned the internet all day so I wouldn't have to deal with my friends page being stuffed with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KURT WE <3 U, U R MY GAWD!!!!!!!!!1111111111one" and I lay in bed all day watching my masses of Nirvana tapes and then I came here and in a fit of obsessive whatever I read my friends pages and BOOM a bunch of birthday wishes to kurt all of which made me horribly depressed.

Today is a HAPPY DAY for chrissakes. It's his BIRTHDAY.

A sad day would be the day he married cuntney or the day he died (kind of one & the same).

WHatever I'm going to go stare at my non-boobs in the mirror and munch on steak.
I have weird fetishes.

BAH I NEED A HUG *big angsty lonely pout*

Happy b-day Kurt

And as for that bitch Courtney and her moronic fans, lets just say your time on this earth is short, all of you.

hello hello!!

Well i've always wanted to join a community, i just never knew how and know that im part of a couple i have to update it. So about Nirvana...i've been a fan for a little longer then 2 years, which isnt long at all. :'(

Ever since i bought "Unplugged in New York" i've become overly obcessed with Nirvana and Kurt Cobain.
i hate when people say "Kurt Cobain is so sexy! i love him!!", even though he is very sexy, he is also a fantastic musician (spelling?) and he should be loved for that, and not only his looks.

ok well i have nothing more to say. BYE BYE.

hey just joined like 2 minutes ago b/c it seems that we all have this insatiable love for nirvana. And i wanted to apologize. I was stupid and didn't read the rules before commenting to some posts. Yes, i did suggest people go to cobaincase.com. It's not that i think courtney love killed him (b/c i don't). i just thought it was an interesting site and some people might want to check it out, and see a different spin on things. Hope there's not any hard feelings towards me already from the "watcher person" (whoever that might be).

well on to introducing myself how people usually do. (makes me sound like i'm at an AA meeting or something). I haven't really liked nirvana too long, probably just got into them 2 years or so ago. (but what can i say, i'm 14). And i started liking them basically b/c i grew up listening to them in the car and such (w/ my parents). So my parents had a bunch of nirvana cds lying around so i listened too them and thought to myself "hey i forgot how much i love this stuff". Then i started paying attention to everything on vh1 and mtv2 about kurt cobain and dave and krist and their short lived success. And now i'm here.

I really wish he could've stayed around just a little bit longer, that way i could've appreciated him at his best. But of course i feel that way about all great rock "legends" (can he be a legend yet).

I also think it a bit cool that he died at 27. Right in there w/ Jimi Hendrix and the greats
