The Beatles vs. Rolling Stones
Many an argument has been spurred by my feelings on this topic, and many soon to come, I would say. I feel it's time I state my share of thoughts on the matter once and for all.
First off, I am aware that many people would argue to say that these two bands are nowhere near comparable. I do, in fact, beg to differ, however. The question I am asking here, involving both the comparing and contrasting of the two is this: Which band describes true to the bone 'Rock 'n Roll' more stongly, clearly, and in an outspoken manner?
I shall dive in at this point. To me, I choose to answer Rolling Stones all the way. It's not the fact that I don't like, listen to, or even respect The Beatles, because all of the prior does in fact apply to me. It's simply that I feel that The Beatles weren't nearly as 'Rock 'n Roll' as Rolling Stones, which I shall go into much further and as detailed as possible.
The Beatles, just as Rolling Stones, did start out with rather simple, two minute and something melodies; catchy, dance-able, and for the most part- happy tunes. (I am very aware of the more 'psychedlic' aspect of The Beatles-which mainly arrived down the road for the band.) Both bands, and I will readily admit, The Beatles more so than The Stones, had instant fanbases, and still to this day have outsold and outdone almost every other musician(s) willing to give the 'biz' a shot.
To me, and merely in my personal opinion, The Beatles went much more artistic and strayed away from the 'traditional rock sound', while the Stones stayed with that sound and experimented and even went as far as to try and 'perfect' that sound.
As mentioned before, I'm not asking the question of which band is 'better' or anything of that nature. Only which really means Rock 'n Roll when you hear it. I'm not going to go into this any further right now, but I feel I have perhaps scratched a bit off the surface of this discussion. More to come. Of course, only when I am in the mood, but eventually, yes. Current Mood: productiveCurrent Music: Rolling Stones- 'She's a Rainbow'
