I think it's terribly interesting that whenever I turn to music to comfort me, I make playlists that are heavy with artists that my mother has loved for as long as I've been alive. I do the same thing when I'm going to sleep; I often will make itunes only play Paul Simon or U2 so I'm able to fall asleep. The music that I know I was danced around to as a baby still is a great comfort to me. The sociologist in me would love to do some sort of long-term study on something like this, but the Emily in me cringes at the thought. Maybe I should bring it up to my mother. She loves to do studies on the impressions things have on developing children.
