Oh My...2007 [29 Dec 2006|07:34pm]
Guess what? Bob from AOL has this all powerful access, so here we go again bloggy.

Things are becoming hectic in the office. But I love it. Give me a ton of things to do. Give me a reason.

2 days and its the new year.

Isn't it scary?

Ze Holiday, Ze Movee [27 Dec 2006|02:29am]
Hey bloggy,

Guess what? You've been blocked in the office for the nth time! Damn. Anyway, just to fill you in, I've been on an extended holiday. Make that 5 days now. We get to have time off because we'e not supposed to have classes on holidays. Works for me.

I've been darting in and out of the house like a madman.

Family events, friends, what nots.

---------------------------------------------------

Ok, I'm now scared. Maybe because I started paying attention to it just now. I've been eating like a whore pig this month (and the month before, and the month before that...) yet I haven't gained a single pound. PJ has been taking me out to all of these to die for restos and I've been downing enough fodder to feed a farm. Maybe I'm destined to be skinny. Oh well.

---------------------------------------------------

I got cornrows. There. Bow.

---------------------------------------------------

Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah is surprisingly, uhm, good. Really. I mean, yeah, they could polish a few scenes here and there but coming from a low key production company, it was.. good enough. Rustom is the perfect Ada. He's got that vulnerability thing going for him. And he's so damn pretty! Sometimes, eerily so. If you squint a little, you could even see a glimpse of Carmina there. ehhe. Chocoleit sounded like a bad idea at first, but seeing the film (3 times I might add), there were moments when he'd steal the scene.

I don't know if Zsazsa Padilla is a good casting decision, though. Sana si Melanie Marquez na lang. At least, she'd be a natural faggot.

[spoiler alert]

Here's looking forward to part 2. Assuming that the movie make enough to warrant a part 2. I'm actually concerned that they might have called it too early. Sana dumugin ng sangkabaklaan ang movie na to para nga matuloy ang part 2. I'm just curious though....BAKIT GREEN ANG BATO??????

Feels like 30 [15 Dec 2006|03:33am]
Hey bloggy.

I know. I'm incorrigible. I've let life get in our way. But yeah, a lot has happened. I'm 24. Finally. Its amazing how one year passes and it feels like I've matured by 5. I've learned a lot this year. Looking back, I wouldn't have it any other way.

If you've noticed, I've redecorated your room. Yeah, its a paltry effort. I'm getting there, don't worry.

Let me scribble this down before I forget.

November was the month I've subconsciously accepted the fact that I'm now a part of the demographic. The bracket of the dinosaurs beckons me. So far, it was painless - contrary to what I thought it would be.

It used to be that I always look at the people who I walk with. Now, its just looking forward. I have to, otherwise I get left behind. It's bittersweet, yet I am slightly disturbed by the fact that I'm actually liking it.

So there. Enough about age. Bring it on.

Hey bloggy baby.

What's up with me and my apparent negligience of my once leet HTML skills? I've forsaken the old ways and now I find myself frustrated in trying to edit you.

Never ye mind. I'll soon be rusty no more.

I have a new boss. And he hails from San Antonio, Texas. Born in the States, but could trace his roots from that beautiful island country of Puerto Rico. And he's a laugh and a half. He can go all ghetto gay on us with the slightest provocation. But he's cool. He even tries to learn every single Tagalog word we throw at him.

Language is a funny thing. You always learn the cuss words first. He's an expert now in saying "P** I** mo". Liila, mah gurlfriend would go on a name calling contest with PJ (the boss) and when she runs out of English slang (skeeza, ho, hoodrat...you get the point) she just blurts out: "Ah, putang ina mo!" Then we'd all bust out laugh.

Did I just qoute an Aegis song? Yup. So what? I love 'em. (take that, closet Aegis fans) heheh.

We're the only company I know that gives it out so damn late. I get mine on December 5. Tsk. But this year, I'm doing it differently. I have no plans in spending the extra moolah. What I'm gonna do is pay off my damn Credit cards from hell. That way I give myself another gift. The gift of financial freedom.

Just you wait, Citibank. I won't be filling your coffers anymore.

182, 880 [20 Nov 2006|05:47pm]
Hello, blog baby.

Take a number.

How bout 182, 880?

Minutes.

Its been that long since my last blog entry.

What's been happening?

In 2 words - A LOT.

I can't imagine that life would take me down this path. I'd have fleeting daydreams of it before, but I didn't really took it seriously.

3 and a half months ago, I've been promoted to my dream job numero bente tres (yup, I have a list of dream jobs, running 5 pages in Arial 8. hehe.)

It's been crazy ever since.

Pictionary to follow soon. But just to let you know, I've missed you so much. There had been way too much rancor I've to tell you. Too many fond memories, too much drama down the drain.

So what's my first order? Of course: giving you a make over.

But, honestly, my writing hand had atrophied over the past few months. I don't think I can even write one cohesive sentence.

But who cares right? So here we go. Off to a fresh start.

Here I am,
1 job,
4 inches of hair,
1 relationship,
4 batches of agents,
1 boatload of projects,
3 near misses,
1 more credit card to give me hell,
182,880 minutes later

signing back in.

I'll keep this short:
I just went out with my boy yesterday. Yes, even if I had to pass up on sleep, I went out. I wanted to visit my best friend and her baby first and foremost. Afterwhich I wanted to see my boys, Johnny and Orlando strutting their stuff in Pirates of the Carribean.

We also met up with Toshi which resulted in a nightcap at Red Box.

Yup, yesterday was fun.

Oh, and if you haven't seen it yet, get off your lazy ass and see the movie!

I love the action sequences. Nevermind that most of the audience aren't even familiar with the Davy Jone's Locker sea myth (as a kid, I pored over lores from other countries. My lolo from my mom's side has this amazing collection of books. Dusty, yeah, but enthralling nevertheless.)

Moments Like These [13 Jul 2006|12:42am]
I'm at your back door
with the earth of a hundred nations in my skin
you won't recognize me
for the light in my eyes is strange

it was years ago, god knows
when you strained to tell me your whole truth
that you were not mine to save
that you could not change

carry the weight
i'll carry the weight of you this time
carry the weight
i'll carry the weight of you

would it be enough to go by
if we could sail on the wind and the dark

cut those chains in the middle of the night
that had you pulled apart

would it be enough to go by
if there's moonlight pulling the tide
would it be enough to live on
if my love could keep you alive

i've built a lot of castles
i've built a lot of blazing speed-of-light machines
but it doesn't matter, you know
they all crumble in the winds of change

so i turned back to breathing
i learned a few good reasons to cry
and i finally called home
praying you weren't out of range

so will you let me come in
mosquitoes have found me
and they're crowding 'round my blood
at least offer me a drink
or a breaking of the ice
i'm wanting your anger
i only want to see if i can
shake you out of sleep
and bring you out under this flooded sky

at any price

so carry the weight
carry the weight of me in your heart
carry the weight
carry the weight of me

would it be enough to go by
if we could sail on the wind and the dark
cut those chains in the middle of the night
that had you pulled apart

would it be enough to go by
if there's moonlight pulling the tide
would it be enough to live on
if my love could keep you alive

Raining profusely. Our roof had sprung a few leaks here and there. The wind howls outside my window, almost eerily like a wailing child wanting to be let in. Lucky I have my pillow to keep me warm.

I haven't been out of the house for a week now. If you don't count accompanying my mom to the Mall Of Asia (which is literally a few steps outside my door) for a round of bingo, then I haven't been out for 2 weeks. To me feels like a year.

Don't you just love and hate the rain in equal proportions?

Let me just say, I LOVE BROADBAND!

I've been satisfying my online cravings for the past few days. As a matter of fact, I think I'm running out of Hard Drive space. My music files are filled to the brim, the porn is unrelenting, the missing ebooks now found, and the movies are streaming lightning fast. [tee hee I just said porn somewhere up there.]

Heck, I might even turn this into a profitable venture. The black market is always a viable option. :)

-=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=-

My mom and I was happily traipsing thru the mall when several meters away, we saw someone wearing a shirt that's identical to a shirt my dad has. He has my dad's gait, my dad's hair and they even have the same semi bulging waistline (although, he's not guapo). He was holding hands with this bimbo and obviously they went a-shopping.

I asked my mom as a jest, what if it was really my dad and his slutty mistress that we bumped into, what would she do?

Her response?

In a jocular tone "Oh I don't mind. I would just look at the bitch from head to toe then just walk ahead. He just better call it even when the time comes and he catches me in the arms of a man of my own."

You go Ma! hehe. Why get mad, right? Get even.

I don't really mind, my sisters and I are all mature enough to realize that there comes a point wherein we have to accept things like this. I'd rather have a blushing, blooming mother who's genuinely happy than an emaciated, bleeding heart wimp who's rending her clothes and hair in bitterness. There's no use wallowing in despair. Drama is for those who can't.

If men can do it, women can too.

That's why I went un-straight.

Yesterday, I was in the kitchen, cooking up another recipe of mine. Whoever thought that a mishap could turn out to be majorly delicious?

Taking a page out of br0wn_c0w's cooking misadventure, I was attempting a beef stew with subtle Japanese-sorta-like-terriyaki flavor topped with buttered mushrooms.

I marinated the sirloin in my own blend of secret ingredients (well, mostly hard to look for spices) and then prepared the buttered mushrooms on the side. I left the beef in boil because I wanted to bring out the broth.

However, as I was waiting it, I was distracted by this show on Jack TV. 25 minutes later, our maid ran to the kitchen panicking coz she knows the beef is burning.

I ran like a crazy fool and found out that it didn't really burn. Just a bit singed on the sides because the broth had either evaporated or had been absorbed. Its something akin to being fried and grilled at the same time.

I know, its weird. But then with the sauce and spices all absorbed, it has this really garlicky, sorta steak like taste to it.

The household gobbled it up. They were asking me what it is. I told them I don't know yet. I'm still coming up with a name.

Next time, I'm going for a "controlled" burn. hehe.

Get Together [09 Jul 2006|06:46pm]
Seen this vid?
fancy no?
Kaleidoscope-y!

Eventhough I'm not digging the granny Madonna vibe, I like how this video looked. Very doobie-induced-nirvana-kinda-retro-ey and I love, love, love the colors. Amazing. Makes me wanna make one of my own. Or implement it on my blog layout/

And you gotta admit, 20 years were taken off Maddona's face. Well, since all you see is effects and all.

Props to the producer of this vid.

-=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=-

Ok, Madonna fans, start defending:

"[Inspiration] is about paying attention. For instance, I saw David LaChappelle's movie Rize, and it has incredible dancers in it. I found out who the dancers were and put them in my next video. I have an insatiable hunger and curiosity to find out about new things. Inevitably those things find their way into my work. I think that's what we all do as artists and creative people: We're all plagiarizing!"

- Madonna tells the new issue of U.S. OK! magazine.

Ahaha. So she finally admits it.

In a crazy fit, Donita Rosario and I went to SM Mall of Asia for a day of gallivanting and pigging out. As I blogged before, she's moving to a different company. Its that little well known company owned by that little known billionaire, Michael Dell. Yup. Small time.

For anyone who's not yet aware, their office is located on the entire 2nd floor on the North Wing of SM Mall of Asia. Its huge, I tell yah. However, I've always been put off by the idea of having your office situated inside a mall but M.O.A. is a different story.

We went there on the pretext of availing the freebie of Dell to their employees: free tickets to the IMAX showing of Superman Returns. You read that right, I-freaking-MAX! Lucky bastards.

Actually, I've seen the movie already and since Roan - I mean Donita - is not a fan of the silver screen, we decided to just spend the day rummaging the mall. We gave the ticket to her hubby, Marvin who happily obliged.

Since this is Donita's first time in the mall, I toured her around. And boy, our feet wanted to bitch slap us for making them walk to death. Donita kept on asking "are we there yet?" hehe.

One thing about M.O.A. that can never ever be rivaled by other malls? The seaside al fresco restaurants. If you're not really scrimping on your budget, then its got a whole slew of ritzy establishments set in a perfect location. I can imagine seats will be as rare as honest politicians here during the late afternoons, especially during sunset. Perfect date place.

And since I didn't want to go overboard in spending we just headed to the most affordable resto we can find, Gerry's Grill. When we went in, it was still 11am yet its almost at full capacity. You know one thing I hate when dining out? Waiters/waitress suggesting where you sit. I mean, I know they have to factor in the possibility that others would come in, 'but I'm here, right now, nobody else is still occupying that seat, and I want it.' That doesn't sound unreasonable, does it? I know, I'm a brat. But hey, its a window seat, so back off.

Anyway, the food was great. Pusit, Bicol Express, veggies, crab rice...yum! Of course the chizmis session can not be far behind. Pigged out on food and mongering. hehehe.

Looking forward to our next session here. There's like a bazillion restos more. :)

Rosario, DSL and Other Files [08 Jul 2006|07:19pm]
Mr. Paquiao (sp?) is getting a whole lot stand offish lately. I think his head's bloating from all his wads of cash.

Why can't he just suck in his gut and just say that "Yeah, that hurt a bit." instead of that "Wala yun. Parang nagtraining lang ako." Why can't he take a page out of that popular Filipino boxer of bygone years who uttered: "I just got luck [sic]" followed by a toothless grin.

Manny, just so you'd know, humility pays a lot more dividends in the long run than your cheesy product endorsements.

-=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=-

Roan (or as her alter ego, Donita Rosario) is the older sister I never had. I met her in the office just last year. She was this very outspoken lady who is always in the center of attention. At first, I didn't think we would jive because everytime I see her she's with her "posse" of "anak-anakans". I, for one, am not really into those games people "play" wherein just because somebody's a bit older than them, they call them kuya/ate, or gasp, even nanay/tatay. I don't see anyone in brackets. I just tend to see them as what they are to me regardless of weight, age or whatever status.

When we were assigned to sit beside each other, we noticed we had the same tact. The same views. The same mindset. Most importantly, the same panache for verbally abusing a person behind their backs. In short, pareho kaming laitera. hehe. The first conversation we had started when we noticed this heinous outfiit of this other girl in our account. And the rest was history.

It came as no surprise that we have a common group of friends. She's a fag hag in every sense of the word. But more than that, as our friendship grew fonder, I learned that she's a proud mother of four, a loving wife of a very papa-licious husband and a very shrewed operator. She wouldn't let you down and if anyone is bearing down on you, expect her to come to your side. And boy, this girl talks the talk.

She taught me a lot of things. Lessons I'd treasure for the rest of my life. When my bestfriend Criselda left the company, I really thought that fate is unkind. However I was wrong. The muses are good to me. Loving people surround me.

We had a lot of happy moments together. We had a whole bunch of mischievous ploys that we managed to pull off. Just recently, she came upon a decision. She's leaving the company for greener pastures.

We all have to go our separate ways one time or the other. I'm just a lucky guy, I think, because life or that higher power up there always place me in collision with amazing individuals. It's twisted when I look at it this way, the more people pass by, the more I find myself and become better.

And the most comforting thing? Its that they don't really leave. They are just there. Spatial distance is the only thing separating us.

Time to move on again. Sis, you will be missed.

-=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=-

mydslI was just telling Macky (ang dyosa ng duhat) about the time I felt I was phone scammed. I was at home one early morning when I got this call from Charito, a supposed agent from PLDT who's selling me myDSL. At first I was hesitant, but then, being a veteran of phone pranks, I asked her a whole slew of technical questions and by george, she even had a mini lecture on what type of architecture they use.

If this was a scammer, she sure did her homework. The thing that made me go "I'm sold" is when she confirmed my dad's billing info (the phone line is in his name). Every damn detail. So I said, yeah I've been dying to get a fatpipe to handle my streams (read: porn, i mean, music, ebooks, vids, etc). She told me she was gonna drop by our house that afternoon to have me fill up a form. I just need to submit a copy of my dad's valid ID and a utility bill.

So I called up my dad to ask permission. He consented in the condition that I assure him I foot the bill. He gave me his SSS ID number and since I forgot to ask for a payslip, I got my bank statement number instead. Afternoon came and she still hasn't arrived. Then around 5pm, she called me and told me that she is stuck in a meeting and can't come anymore, but if I wanted I can just give her the information over the phone.

This was my GMA moment. Lapse of judgement when I gave her the info. Hastily, I might add, like a kid drooling for candy. Can you say I'm desperate for broadband?

And that was it. For 4 days, I didn't hear anything from her. Damn. I felt like such a buffoon. I should have raised the red flag when all of a sudden she can't come to my house. And in a little bout of lucidity, I remembered that little moment when she fudged up my Dad's name. She thought Daniel was his first name (the same thing I encounter each and everytime I fill up a document, people tell me that I got the First and Last name interchanged, which is usually met with a blistering retort from me like "I'm sorry if my last name doesn't reek like yours does." or something to that effect.)

4 days later I was trying to console myself into thinking that she can't do anything with my bank statement number, because, hello, its just a statement number and as for my dad's SSS id: this isn't the U.S of A. where your whole life can be stolen just by knowing this. The most they can do with is is steal his monthly contributions. Which I even doubt is possible. However I had to suffer the barrage of my mom's nagging asking me how can I be such a numbskull to fall for this.

But on the 5th day?

I came home, my mom, who has this ridiculous grin on her face, called me to the room where we have the PC, and told me to type in any multimedia intensive site. Ok, so I went along. I typed in www.gamespot.com (which is a daily bible for me). And for something that took a day and a half to load on 56k (try jumping to that site right now), it took an amazing 10 seconds! Cool. We're hooked up.

"They came to connect it a while ago." she said (in my mind, with a toothless grin).

If you may excuse me, I have some internet loving to do. :)

House DvdOh, and the moral lesson of this story of this is: there is more good in people than we would want to believe.
Kinda like that episode of House wherein Dr. House, in his usual cynical self wanted to have his senator patient (who's running for President) 'fess up to being gay because he's got AIDS. To rub salt to the injury, imagine being forced on your deathbed to 'fess up to something you're not. It turned out his patient was telling the truth and he was just relapsing from a rare form of chemical toxicity. This caused the bitter cynic to have a change of view about how he deals with people.

Darn it, why can't they make more of these shows?

Look, In The Sky. Its A, Its A, Its... [01 Jul 2006|04:04pm]
Brandon Routh's crotch!

crotch withheld for the kiddies

Haha. First blog entry in quite a while and I'm already oogling crotches. I'm sorry blog baby.

Went out with Ian yesterday to catch Superman Returns at the Promenade in Greenhills (still the best cinema for me). We were supposed to watch it at the Gateway in the Globe Theater. You know, the Lazy-Boy cinema. However by some stupid design, they do not have seats available for walk in customers because apparently, its been sold out -for the whole week- through online reservations. That wouldn't be as dumb if they could actually be sure that these reservations would be occupied. Why not take only a certain percentage for reservations, then the rest for walk ins? I think the concept eludes their brilliant minds.

So in frustration we decided to rush off to 'used to be ghetto, now soullessly-spanking new" Greenhills to watch it at the Promenade instead. But before that we dropped by at Taco Bell to grab some munchies. I don't get why America's so gaga over it. Its not that good. Add the fact that you would have to have a disposition of shamelessness because eating it so damn messy.

-=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=-

And so it happened. One of the things I've been fearing.

My bestfriend just made me a godfather.

A PRINCIPAL one at that.

I've always been on the defensive side whenever conversations between me and my friends (who will be having children) goes into the, ahem, extended family category. I tell them offhand that they shouldn't bother inviting me because I'll be the worst ninong ever.

Theres an old midwives tale that its bad luck to refuse. So by asking them not to invite me equates to not refusing, then its a win-win situation, right?

But dang, she's my bestfriend. And she's got the cutest baby on the face of this planet. Shiloh Nouvell Jolie - Pitt who?

-=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=-

Superman was good.

No cancel that, it was satisfyingly good. It was grand in all the right places. And no, I'm not talking about Brandon Routh's physique.

Its definitely one of the better movies of the year but its not perfect.

I reaaaaly love Kevin Spacey, however his role as Luthor is soooo unnecessary. Heck, he is not even villanous, just plain crazy. What a pity because Spacey can give so much more. His character must be the dumbest villain ever with the most idiotically contrived world domination plan. I won't spoil what it is, but bottomline is, its just plain assinine.

Ok, this can't be avoided. Let me ask this:
==spoiler alert, stop reading if you don't want me to mess it up for you==

Although I didn't see the "Lois got pregnant with Clark's baby thing" coming (mainly because, its one of those unnecessary plotlines), I feel that its just so tacked on. Executives must have thought that just the Man of Steel alone doesn't equate to profitable sequels. There should also be a Son of Steel! Barf.

That aside, I really enjoyed the rest of the movie. Bryan Singer makes amazing action sequences. And the movie is all about the emotions set forth by the characters. He brings Superman closer to home by showing his vulnerable side, his humanity. I really like the hospital thing.

Oh and Cyclops (James Marsden) was killed in X-Men 3 because he jumped ship! heheh. Although he's a babe himself, in this movie, he looks an average joe when he's beside the greek god Brandon.

This bothers me:
What brand of hairspray (or in his case, hair CEMENT) does Superman use to preserve that "kiss me" (that curl in the middle)?

He got banged up, stabbed, fell from dizzying heights and its still perfectly curled.

Its virtually indestructible.

Greenhills is a mutant. Its half new, half Bohemia. I just found out yesterday that there's still a portion of old Greenhills tucked away in the seams. That alone gladdens my heart.

He's Out [14 Jun 2006|07:55pm]
O.M.G.!!!!

Spiderman outs himself to the press
In the latest edition of the Marvel comic "Civil War" on sale, Spiderman does the unthinkable and removes his Spidey mask to publicly reveal his hidden identity.

"I'm proud of who I am, and I'm here right now to prove it," the legendary webslinger tells a press conference called in New York's Times Square, before pulling off his mask and standing before the massed ranks of reporters as newspaper photographer Peter Parker.

Unheard of. Well, in the DC universe that is. Although I'm more of a Marvel geek, this is a gargantuan event in any series. Ok, dork mode off.

I'm rushing to the store (or online) to have myself a copy of this series:

What Holiday? [11 Jun 2006|07:54pm]
For all its worth: Happy Independence Day.

Yup. No exclamation point there.

Pero ito ang tanong:
Kelan tayo makakalaya sa mga manlulupig na nagmumula mismo sa ating bansa?

Bihag ng sariling mga suwail na anak. Nakakalungkot.

-7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=-

Hay. Kahit na ganun, life goes on.

I found this amusing piece of work online.

Gives a whole new spin to "Sugod mga kapatid", doesn't it?

Man, I'm so psyched for the Playstation 3 (linkify). If things go well for me, I'm gonna have this baby by early next year. Oh, and as well as that 1080 progressive scan plasma tv I've been saving up for. ;)

Really sorry now,
They weren't to know.
They got caught up in your talent show,
With you pernickety little bastards in your fancy dress,
Who just judge each other and try to impress,
But they couldn't escape from you,
Couldn't be free of you,
And now they know there's no way out,
And they're really sorry now for what they've done,
They were three Wise Men just trying to have some fun.

Look who's alone now.

Mr. Blunt, you are indeed, a piece of work. :)

Rumor mill:
Zsa Zsa Zaturnah related. It seems that with all the hoopla about the casting, it seems that there is a silver lining. Rustom Padilla is now back in the running as Ada. I'm not 100% sure with him, but the thing is, he could make the movie interesting and a definite box office hit. Why? Because people would flock to see his coming out role.

I think he can pull it off. And no, I don't have any shred of hate for him with that whole "using Big Brother as a launching pad" thing. Its a double edged sword, if he doesn't come out, people will hound him with rumors until his gray fairy days. But when he braves the odd, people will call him pretentious, hypocritical, and whatever mud they could throw to him. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. I feel for him on this.

Eventhough the new director is relatively a step down from the original one, it doesn't hurt to hope that it pans out for the best right?

However I would always say this time and time again. Walang panama yang si Kris Aquino, si Ruffa Mae, si Zsa Zsa Padilla, heck to some extent even Eula Valdez, sa manok ko:

Melanie Marquez as Zsa Zsa.

Maganda
Matangkad
AMAZONIC (which is verrrry important to the role)

and last but definitely THE MOST:
Bakla to the bazillionth power.

Join me in my campaign. :)

Dakota, Clark, and Me [31 May 2006|11:54pm]

O.M.G.!

Terri Hatcher will voice the mother and the "other" mother. I'm not much into her, it should have been Michelle Pfiefer as initially casted, but Neil said she'll be doing Stardust (another Gaiman work) so I'm not complaining.

Dakota Fanning would be perfect for Coraline.

I sooooo excited.
Oh and for Gaiman haters out there, I'll be more than willing to lend you my entire collection.
Know his works first before you criticize.

In other news:
Idol Fever had reached these shores.
I don't think it would be such a big hit at first but Philippine/Pinoy Idol seems interesting.

I just don't know what were they thinking when they were casting the judges though:

Ryan Cayabyab - a big OK for me. Much respect for this man.
Pilita Corales - WTfandango? Isn't she 100 years old now? Ok so maybe old people can get away with any comment they can think of, but come on. I always felt that Dessa is perfect for this.
Francis Magallona - ooo..mmmm...gggg. Now I'm lost on what they are trying to prove. If he so much as utters one "We got a hot one tonight" I'm gonna strangle some random monkey.

Nevertheless, the Idol honchos gave the nod to these people (the last two to be exact). Either they're making a huge mistake, or they know something we don't know.

Ano kayang feeling na cygote ka pa lang, superstar ka na?

Ano kaya ang feeling ng you have in you the genes of the finest specimen of man and woman?

Ano kaya ang feeling na magkaroon ng United Colors of Jolie-tton na mga kapatid?

Ano kayang feeling pangalanang Shiloh Nouvel?

Hay. I guess, I'll never know.

He brought us lotsa chocolates. Pero bat ganun, kahit lumamon ako ng sandamakmak, pag nagcheck ako ng timbang, ganun pa rin? Am I perpetually cursed to be patpatin? (well, not really patpat, but you get the point) Ayoko namang maging kapatid sa pananampalataya si Nicole Richie.

Anyways, he brought us something that instantly became my newest obsession: Truffle chocolate. Ang chocolate na hindi pang tropical country. You could literally see it melt in front of your eyes if you just take it out of the freezer and expose it to room temperature (read: room temperature ng 'Pinas).

Ang bango niya talaga. At nakaka gigil. I didn't notice that I was finishing an entire pack already. When this runs out, I swear I will be hunting all the supermarkets here in the Metro for anything similar to it.

I've always known that X-Men will flop. Well, quality wise, that is. Bratner could never fill Singer's shoes. No matter how much it earns, its still a flop in my eyes.

Virtually every single character development the previous director set was replaced by irrelevant character cameos and visually stunning, substance lacking effects.

Dark Phoenix, latent powers of Jean? Puh-leease. The bastardization of all things Marvel.

I'd rather have one character fleshed out than a plethora of soulless drones who make you go ooh one second and meh the other..

Here's waiting for Superman.

Idol's Final [25 May 2006|09:09pm]

SM Mall of Asia is an amazing piece of infrastructure. Hiningal talaga ako (which is rare) just walking inside. Pictures to come up in a few. Di ko pa ma upload e.

-7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=-

Btw, speaking of Mall of Asia, everything else is great, but the IMAX theater is a gi-normous let down. Sabi na hindi ako maniniwala sa mga chizms na 8 floors to e. Make that 1/8 of that! Siryoso. At hindi pa widescreen! Coming from a videophile, thats a huge insult. Add to the fact that the screen has this horrible viewing angle. It makes some parts of the whole picture unintentionally dark. Sobrang letdown talaga.

So I guess, the Gateway (Lazyboy cinema) and the Promenade Cinemas still top my list of the best here in the Metro.

-7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=-

A.I. related:

Although, I can't say its perfect, the finale packed so much punch. From the start, I knew that my boy Taylor would be taking home the crown, however the intermissions were surprisingly good.

Let me just give my highlights:

-Al Jarreau performed with Paris! Who kidnapped the squeaky voiced kid and replaced it with this power belter? I love her in that performance.

-A humongous WTF???!! at Meatloaf! He is the personification of a HAM singer. Whats with the eerie vibrato? The histrionic? And then Katherine comes in. WTF.

-Wolfgang Puck and Kelly Pickler clicked. And for the first time, I actually laughed with Kelly (not: at) :)

-Chris had this duet with his favorite band. Classic moment: Chris and Ed Kowalczyk (the lead singer) looked at each other and sang "It's a mystery, how you turn me on." hahahahhaha. Bald (semi) hot dudes going at it.

-Toni Braxton (remember her? no? well me too...almost) trying hard to still come off as sexy. Someone should give this girl her career back.

-Brokenote Mountain montage. At the start of the season, I was rooting for this cute cowboy. Well, he got booted off early on, but he got his chance to perform. Adorable.

-Golden Idols? Its completely irrelevant. Its not even funny. Although they used it to segue to the wannabes performing onstage

-Ohmay gowd, Clay Aiken looks like KD Lang! ahahah. The look on the wannabe Clay's face was priceless. That or that wannabe is just a damn good actor.

-Clay is sooooooo gay. And whats up with his eyes? It like you cant see the orbs, because all you see is black. Creeeeeeeeeeepy!

-Group performances! The guys were damn hot in their tux and the ladies' "let's sing every god damn song with the word W-O-M-A-N in it" was, in the very least, worthwhile.

-Mandisa. Make that MANDISA. Her stylist must be really, really mad at her. Tight fitting pants? However her voice is just amazing.

-Burt Bacharach! Classic act.

-Lemme qoute my friend: Kevin Covais singing "What's New Pussycat" was almost as hysterical as Clay Aiken's hair.

-Elliot's A House Is Not A Home is fantastic. I thought Anwar would be forever my fave, but I guess E just does it better. Such control in his upper registers. I love this guy. He should have made it.

-Why was David Hasselhoff crying in the audience? That was so... random.

-Another Elliot moment: singing One (that song from U2) with Mary J Blige (who apparently would not allow anyone to upstage her). Mary, dear, its not your show, nevertheless, you hogged it. Nevertheless, I could have stopped watching and it would be complete.

-And then Ryan Seacrest comes up ready to announce the winner and that the total tally of votes, yadda yadda yadd---oh snaps! Its Prince! (he has supernaturally retained his look from 1987.) And so funny, after his performance he just strutted off the stage, immediately. Without even acknowleding Ryan. What a Divo. Hahah.

-Oh and yeah, Taylor won!

Overall, this was the best finals ever. And I mean how the show was handled, not necessarily the finalist. Useless fillers were kept at a minimum. And the pacing was good. I would have wanted Elliot to be up there, though. But Taylor is still unique and most importantly: FUN. So its ok, I guess.

Speaking of Junjun (ang askal na sosyal), my mom and I had an itty bitty row the other day. I was aghast with the infestation of bubwits (mini rodents) so I wanted to buy one of those rat poisons that come in rainbow colors (dont ask). Mom cut me off because she inferred that these deadly pellets blind first before poisoning hence the teeny buggers look for the light and die. She says Junjun (the askel na sosyel) might mistake them for food and end up getting poisoned too.

To think that the digusting little rodents are there because of Junjun (A.A.N.S) to begin with! What with all his food stuff lying every single nook and cranny of the house. So frustrating.

Pero ok na kami ni ma. We compromised. We got those archaic mouse traps set up. (as if naman gagana)

Fission Mailed [17 May 2006|05:10pm]
May 13, 2006 Saturday

Ian and I went to Gateway in Cubao. Lemme just say that I love love love this mall.

-7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=-

We had lunch at Cibo. My pasta was, in a word, meh. Its always been like this. Whenever we go out, Ian gets to choose something from the menu that is really good. While I always get something utterly meh. Maybe because I always want to go for the one that nobody has ever heard of before. hehe.

However, Cibo's Tiramisu is to die for. Well worth the price of admission.

We saw Mission Impossible 3.

Something in me died.

And no, I'm not being sarcastic. Something in me (read: the critique) was pleasantly absent while watching. I really enjoyed the vibe of the movie. The action sequences were really tight. And for the first time, I didn't care about the glaring plotholes.

-7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=7=8=-

Nysha replied to my previous post (after a century!). She didn't want to be a party pooper or anything but she said the reason why the Mall of Asia's March opening was postponed for May was that the floor of the center building dropped 10 centimeters causing the tiles to break.

It doesn't really concern me much. Broken floors or not, I'm still psyched for the opening of this mall. And besides, every single infrastructure is expected to settle.

So kita kits pa rin. :)

I saw last night's Maalaala Mo Kaya. Vilma Santos. 'nuff said.

In real life, I don't even shed a tear in funerals of loved ones. Not even after I found out I have a stepbrother and Dad almost left us. Not even after one of my best buds told me he's leaving for Dhubai. Not even after ... oh, you get it. But ironically, mababaw ang luha ko with anything visual. Movies, tv shows, books whatever.
Heck, naiyak ako para kay Florentino sa Love In Time of Cholera ni Marquez.

And last night, I was sitting in front of the TV, fighting to keep the tears from flowing.

...When Daisy (Vilma) told her daughter to hold on because she can't bear losing her.
...When Rose (the daughter) sat up with all the remaining energy in her because her mom said she'd rather have that as a gift for mother's day.
...When Daisy lost it.

As soon as I was lying down in my bed, I lost it.

Ewan ko ba. Its easier to cry for things farthest from our own little realities.

M.O.A. [09 May 2006|07:49pm]
I'm actually excited about this. Hello, its just outside my door. I live, literally, within walking distance from this gi-normous mall.

Ladies and gentlewomen, the SM Mall Of Asia

Some trivia:

When the Mall of Asia opens its doors on May 21, it will offer 386,000 square meters of lease space for shopping and dining, cinemas and an Olympic-size skating rink.

About 280 meters of floor area offers a view of the majestic sunset over Manila Bay.

It is about half the size of the South China Mall in Dongguan, China -- said to be the world's biggest mall -- but about 30 percent bigger than the Mall of America, the second-biggest shopping center in the United States.

Sy said it would take three hours just to stroll through the mall and two-and-a-half days if you took a five-minute stop in each shop.

"We believe strongly that if this is accepted by the public, I think we are on to see a brighter future," Sy said.

It took two and a half years and P6.5 billion ($126 million) to build Mall of Asia but SM Prime expects its 25th shopping center to put the Philippines on the world retailing map.

SM Prime expects the project to contribute about two percent to group revenues this year, rising to 10 percent when it reaches 100 percent occupancy. Mall of Asia will open with 70 to 80 percent occupancy on May 21.

With the sheer size of its leasable space, the group expects to fully recoup its investment in Mall of Asia in eight-and-a-half years, slightly longer than the seven years in its other mall projects.

"It's something that we felt that we would sacrifice a little but would enhance not only the value of the name of SM but the whole property," Sy said.
