HP TouchSmart tx2 Now Offers Touch Twitter

HP knows that we don’t just want to use our Windows 7 ($76.54) touch notebooks for spinning a virtual globe or creating ripples in fake water. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) That’s why the company is bringing the full TouchSmart experience from its big-screen all-in-one PCs to its 12.1-inch multitouch convertible in time for the Windows 7 launch. Not only is the touch interface on the refreshed tx2 much better than anything else we’ve used on a notebook, HP is adding cool new apps like Twitter and Hulu, with more to come. Check out our hands-on video to see this tablet in action.

Starting at $799, the tx2 looks identical to the version we tested back in December of last year. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a stylish design (complete with Reaction pattern) but at 5 pounds with the extended battery and 1.5 inches thick this convertible it’s not exactly svelte. What makes the “new” tx2 stand out is what it does with touch.VGP-BPS10VGP-BPS10AVGP-BPS10A/B.

Unlike the very limited MediaSmart software HP bundled previously, this machine has HP’s full TouchSmart treatment, which means it has the same slick tile interface and nearly all the same applications. These include photos, music, weather, notes, games, a touch-friendly Web browser, and more. Just like on the desktop, you can move smaller menu items to the main menu by dragging the tiles up, or vice versa. So how good are Hulu and Twitter?

During our brief hands-on time with the tx2 we found the Hulu app to be more compelling. It’s basically identical to the Hulu desktop program but optimized for touch input. We found it easy to find popular shows, playback was mostly smooth, and it’s easy to pause playback and tap on the Menu button at any time to find something else to watch. Plus, unlike the desktop app, you can see HP’s TouchSmart skin above the playback window, which includes a Home button (to exit), sliding volume controls, and a battery meter.Toshiba,Toshiba PA3399U-1BASToshiba PA3399U-2BASToshiba PA3399U-1BRSToshiba PA3399U-2BRSToshiba PA3465U-1BRSToshiba Satellite A100 battery, Toshiba Satellite A105 battery, Toshiba Satellite A80 battery, Toshiba Satellite M100 battery.

The Twitter app was also pretty touch friendly, though we’re not sure why it asked us to sign in each time. Switching between updates from all your friends and mentions and direct messages was seamless with a finger. And, if you’re in tablet mode, you can type updates with your fingers using the decent-sized Windows 7 on-screen keyboard (which pops up with a tap of your finger). What’s missing is some sort of URL shortening tool, and the ability to tweet photos.

Other touch-friendly apps include Netflix (for watching movies and managing your queue), HP Music (which includes Rhapsody and Pandora), and TouchSmart Canvas (for organizing photo libraries). Sorry, chefs in training, the Recipe Box app is for desktops only.

So what’s under the hood of this system? Based on the spec sheet for the tx2-1377nr, you’re looking at 2.2-GHz AMD Turion X2 RM-75 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB The storage device that holds your OS, programs, and data. Learn Morehard drive, and a DVD burner. Overall, the tx2 we played seemed snappier than the older tx2z, but we think it has more to do with software updates than the components. However, we found that the latest HP all-in-ones, like the TouchSmart 300 and 600, were more responsive. With the tx2, in some cases we were staring at that little ring of fire graphic while waiting for touch apps to load longer than we’d prefer.

Overall, the tx2 offers a much improved touch experience compared to its predecessor–and the price is still reasonable. However, we wish that this slick new interface were paired with a thinner and lighter design. Stay tuned for a full review.Toshiba PA3451U-1BRS,wholesale

    Pure Digital Flip UltraHD
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

When Pure Digital released its first Flip Video pocket camcorder in 2007, it was a game changer, inspiring me-too devices from giants such as Kodak and Sony. Now, after a long period without updates, Pure Digital, which now has 13 percent of the U.S. market, has revamped the Ultra’s design and is offering a standard-def and a high-def 720p version, each of which has a generous amount of built-in memory. While some will opt for smaller, cheaper models that can take still photos, others will be enticed by the $199 UltraHD’s whopping 8GB of storage, which makes it easiest to start shooting right out of the box.

    Updated Design

The Flip UltraHD (along with the standard-def Flip Ultra) is a marriage between the last-generation Flip Ultra and the sleeker Flip Mino series (such as the Mino HD). At 4.3 x 2.2 x 1.2 inches, it’s about as bulky as the original Ultra (4.2 x 2.2 x 1.3 inches) but at 3.2 ounces, it weighs almost the same as the Kodak Zx1, which is a more compact 4.2 x 2.0 x 0.8 inches. The Flip UltraHD has a black satin finish with gray and silver accents, the same color scheme introduced with the Mino line. Ultimately, something as small as the Mino but with the new Ultra’s scratch-resistant surface would be the best design of all.dell C1295Dell Inspiron 500m batteryDell Inspiron 510m batteryDell Inspiron 600m batteryDell Latitude D500 batteryDell Latitude D505 batteryDell Latitude D510 batteryDell Latitude D520 batteryDell Latitude D600 batteryDell Latitude D610 battery.

As with all other camcorders from Pure Digital, the UltraHD has the signature flip-out USB connector, from which the Flip line gets its name. Instead of the touch-sensitive controls used on the Mino, the UltraHD has defined buttons, including playback and delete buttons, and a four-way navigation pad with a bright red record button in the middle. The up and down arrows control the 2X digital zoom.

Aside from the maturer aesthetic, the UltraHD boasts a few improvements we’re excited about. The 2-inch screen is larger than the previous Ultra’s 1.5-inch LCD, and has a wider, 16:9 orientation. We took plenty of shots on a cloudless afternoon, and had no problem framing and playing back our movies on the screen. Moreover, the device has an HDMI port to match its 720p resolution. Although we’ve seen plenty of HD pocket camcorders by now, HDMI output is still uncommon.dell KD476dell GD761dell TD347Dell Inspiron 1501 batteryDell Inspiron 6400 batteryDell Inspiron E1505 batteryDell Latitude 131L battery.

    User Interface

Like its predecessors, the Flip UltraHD has few buttons. Pressing the playback button enters playback mode, as you’d expect, but the camera immediately starts playing the last clip you filmed. You have to press the button again to pause it, and then use the left and right buttons on the navigation pad to scroll through them. Kodak’s Zx1 shows thumbnails, which makes finding the intended clip easier. Pressing the record button reenters shooting mode, and using the up and down buttons to operate the zoom felt intuitive.

    Video Quality

The Flip UltraHD has 8GB of internal memory, which can store up to 2 hours of 720p video; this is double the time of the Mino HD ($229), which has 4GB of internal storage. The UltraHD records 720p video at 30 frames per second, although you can also downgrade to VGA. Our video looked colorful, bright, and sharp. Moving objects, such as cyclists, looked smooth in playback, and finer details were discernable, like the stubble on the face of a passerby and the sheen on a balloon. The digital zoom worked well, but the catch with digital zoom in general is that it makes the picture look less clear.

We got the best results when we kept the camera still. The UltraHD, like other camcorders in this category, lacks optical image stabilization, and the benefits of having a higher resolution are lost when the video appears shaky. A tripod mount is on the bottom, but who really carries around a tripod to support a pocket camcorder?APPLE,Apple A1175Apple MacBook Pro 15 inch battery,Apple A1078Apple A1045Apple PowerBook G4 15 battery.

The sound quality was particularly excellent. The various street performers we filmed all sounded loud and clear. The mics even picked up the voices of our friends standing behind the camera. Finally, the camcorder did well in crowded environments, with many voices layered on top of each other. The effect in our clips was realistic and never garbled.

We were also impressed by the loud built-in speaker. In our testing, we joined a large crowd surrounding a group of performers in a park. The troupe played music from a boombox while the onlookers cheered and clapped. We played back our footage of the scene on the spot, and had no problem hearing our clip over the commotion.

    Onboard Software

Like other Flips, the UltraHD carries its FlipShare software onboard; there’s no installation disc in the box. You install the software when you connect it to your PC using the flip-out connector. Unlike the Kodak Zx1, it’s compatible with both Macs and PCs.

As with every other Flip, the HD’s software allows you to upload directly to YouTube and MySpace. You can also export video so that it’s ready to upload to other video-sharing sites. Other sharing options include e-mailing videos and sending them as greeting cards. The upload process is easy, since you enter your username and password from FlipShare’s interface, and not your browser.Sony,VGP-BPS2VGP-BPS2A,VGP-BPL2VGP-BPL2C.

When it comes to creating things with your footage, you can burn a DVD, pull snapshots from the footage, or make a movie. We made a 4-minute-and-11-second movie by combining various clips we took. We began by dragging and dropping the clips in the order we wanted them. Then we had the option of adding a title and end credits (you can’t change the font or transition time). You can also add music, choosing either one of seven bundled tracks or any MP3 on your computer. You can even decide if you want it to play louder, softer, or on the same level as the sound in your movies.

When it comes to editing, you can trim movies at either end, but that’s it; you’ll have to use another program to adjust anything else.

    Battery Life and Warranty

The Flip UltraHD can record up to 2 hours of HD video. Every time you stop recording a clip, you can see on-screen exactly how many minutes of recording time you have left. Although the battery lasted through an afternoon of shooting short, intermittent clips, we wished there were an on-screen battery life indicator.VGP-BPS8VGP-BPS8AVGP-BPL8, VGP-BPL8A.

The Flip Ultra comes with two removable, rechargeable AA batteries, which partly explains why it’s so heavy. In general, the benefit of having removable batteries is that when they die, you can pick up a fresh set anywhere and resume shooting.

The Flip UltraHD has a one-year warranty.

    The Verdict

There are HD pocket camcorders cheaper and smaller than the Pure Digital Flip UltraHD, including the $149 Kodak Zx1, which also takes still photos. However, the $199 UltraHD has a generous 8GB internal memory. Additionally, many of the Flip’s competitors aren’t Mac-compatible, but the UltraHD is. Although it’s a bit bulky, the UltraHD offers excellent storage capacity, video and audio quality, and ease of use for the money.VGP-BPS9VGP-BPS9/BVGP-BPS9/SVGP-BPS9AVGP-BPS9A/B.

    Lenovo ThinkPad X200s Reviews
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

Sure, the original Lenovo ThinkPad X200 will last an entire flight from San Francisco to New York, but what if you’re traveling from the Bay City to, say, London? Featuring a lower-voltage processor, LED-backlit display, and a nine-cell battery, the X200s should get you there with a few minutes to spare. While the X200s is about $530 more than the X200, and not as fast, this ultraportable still has very good performance, hardware, and connectivity, plus the endurance to last a full workday and beyond.

    Design

The X200s features a lightweight yet solid design with Lenovo’s standard matte black finish. Measuring 11.6 x 9.2 x 1.4 inches (at its thickest) and weighing 2.6 pounds (with the four-cell dell battery) the system’s magnesium alloy frame is thicker than the featherweight MacBook Air, but it feels more durable. With the beefier nine-cell battery, the system weighs 3.2 pounds—still lighter than the HP EliteBook 2530p by about half a pound.

All the usual ports and connections are onboard, starting with two USB ports, Ethernet, VGA, and an ExpressCard/54 slot on the left side (along with the Wi-Fi switch). The right side houses an additional USB port, headphone and mic jacks, and a modem connection. Up front is a lone SD Card reader.

As expected, the X200s sports the excellent ThinkPad keyboard, which was firm and responsive. Despite being a 12-inch system, the spacious layout was conducive to an excellent typing experience. Unlike the X300, the X200s lacks a touchpad; we had to make do with just the TrackPoint, but we became acclimated to the responsive stick within a few minutes.wholesale

    Display and Audio

At 1440 x 900 pixels, the X200s’ 12.1-inch widescreen display is a boost over the X200’s screen (1280 x 800 pixels). It results in sharper images but also smaller icons and fonts. The screen is protected by a carbon and glass fiber frame, which is light and durable and, according to Lenovo, makes for better Wi-Fi reception. We downloaded a high-definition trailer of Quantum of Solace and were impressed with the crisp images, deep blacks, and color balance. The screen’s matte finish ensured minimal glare, although practical viewing angles are limited to one person on either side of the screen.

If you want to watch Blu-ray or DVD movies, you’ll have to invest in the ThinkPad X200 Ultrabase dock ($175), since the system lacks an integrated optical drive (a feature you’ll find in the equally lightweight 12-inch Toshiba Portégé R500 series and 11-inch Sony VAIO TT series). Unlike the X200, the X200s lacks a webcam.

    Audio quality is what you’d expect from a business machine: decent volume with a weak bottom end. Still, the dedicated volume controls above the keyboard were convenient for quick volume adjustment and muting.dell GK479dell FK890dell Inspiron 1721 battery, dell Inspiron 1720 battery, dell Inspiron 1521 battery, dell Inspiron 1520 battery,dell studio 14 battery,dell studio 1435 battery,dell studio 1436 battery,dell studio 1535 battery,dell studio 1536 battery,dell studio 1537 battery,dell studio 1555 battery,dell studio 1557 battery,dell studio 1735 battery,dell studio 1737 battery,dell vostro 1000 battery,dell vostro 1320 battery,dell vostro 1400 battery,dell vostro 1500 battery,dell vostro 1520 battery,dell vostro 1700 battery,dell vostro 2510 battery.

    Sanyo Developed 'Instant' Batteries

Sanyo has developed a rechargeable battery that can be supplied to users ready to use, charged upon manufacturing so buyers don't have to charge it before using.

The new battery is a nickel metal hydride (NiMH) cell of the type commonly found in many portable electronics products but with a key difference. Typically, NiMH batteries lose charge over time if they are not used. Consequently, the gap between their manufacture and sale means it's not feasible to supply them charged to users. Sanyo's new battery loses energy much more slowly when unused so batteries can be supplied that are ready to use at the time of purchase.

Also, Sanyo said its new battery loses about 15 percent of its charge after a year of no use compared to competing Latitude D510 batteryLatitude D520 battery that lose almost all their charge over the same period.

The battery technology, which will be used in an AA-battery that will go on sale in Japan in the middle of November, is the first product to be born from Sanyo's "Think Gaia" corporate restructuring plan. Under the leadership of Chairman Tomoyo Nonaka, Sanyo is attempting to refocus around environmentally-friendly products.

    Battery Specs, Costs

Sanyo will promote the Latitude D600 batteryLatitude D610 battery as a replacement for throw-away dry cell batteries, of which around 40 billion are disposed of worldwide each year, according to industry figures cited by Sanyo.

The batteries, carrying the "Eneloop" product name, will go on sale starting November 14. A pack of two AA batteries will cost $10. They will also be available in packs of four and eight, and also with a recharger. AAA-size batteries in the same range will go on sale in Japan on January 21, 2006, and cost $8 for a pack of two.

The company estimates the new PC764Latitude D620 battery will reach the end of their useful life after they have been recharged about 1000 times. Sanyo said the batteries are environmentally friendly and can be recycled.

Although better known for its electronics products, Sanyo is a major manufacturer of rechargeable batteries. The company claims a 45 percent world market share for laptop PC and cell phone batteries and a 55 percent share of the digital still camera market. About 60 percent of rechargeable batteries sold in stores worldwide are manufactured by Sanyo, according to the company's figures. It is also developing alternative battery sources, such as fuel cells. Toshiba company offers to exchange defective batteries
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

Toshiba has offered to exchange 340,000 notebook computer batteries, but said they do not pose a fire hazard. Instead, defective batteries could unexpectedly cut power to the notebooks, causing users to lose unsaved work.

The batteries, made by Sony, may fail to charge correctly, causing the power to cut off suddenly if the notebook is not connected to a mains outlet, said Toshiba spokesman Keisuke Ohmori.

Reports of lithium ion cells in notebook batteries overheating or catching fire have prompted other computer manufacturers, including Apple Computer and Dell, to issue safety recalls. Dell recalled 4.1 million batteries used in its notebook computers in August, citing a fire hazard, while Apple recalled 1.8 million Inspiron 6400 batteryInspiron E1505 battery,Latitude 131L battery warning that they could overheat.

    Not an Explosive Situation

Toshiba's batteries are not at risk of starting a fire, Ohmori said. "There is no such hazardous or related issue," he said.

Instead, Toshiba's problems stem from a defect in the interface circuitry between the battery cells and the computer.

That defect is caused by corrosion, said a spokesman for Sony, the manufacturer of the batteries. An ingredient used in the insulating paper of batteries manufactured between March and May can corrode components in the C1295Inspiron 500m batteryInspiron 510m battery' charging circuits, causing them to fail, said Sony spokesman Takashia Uehara. The supplier changed the composition of the insulating paper without notice, he said.

Batteries made for other notebook manufacturers also contained the paper, and Sony is working with those companies to see whether there is a problem, Uehara said. He declined to say how many batteries were affected overall.

Toshiba's free battery exchange program covers 11 notebook models sold in Japan, five sold in the U.S. and 12 sold in Europe, including the Tecra A7, Satellite A100, Satellite M50 and Satellite pro M70, Ohmori said.Inspiron 600m batteryLatitude D500 batteryLatitude D505 battery.
