| Bio: | The Matchbox project actually started out as 20 minature and personalised presents mailed to close friends. I live in the suburbs of Sydney and spend a lot of time staring out of bus windows, this was a fun way to occupy my time. Then came the suggestion that I should start leaving them sporadically, randomly - and evidence that I need very little encouragement (for anything, a very bad trait), I've been doing it ever since.
It's really just a bit of fun and at best aimed to reward curiosity. I used to be disappointed when the matchbox finders did not reply, but I realise now that it's more about the possibility of their being found and people enjoying reading along.
When I'm not decorating, packing or abandoning matchboxes I'm a 24 year old girl. I work part time as a journalist in a busy newsroom and love it. The other days I work on a freelance writing/photography project that is due to be exhibited next year, where I roam around my old neighbourhood collecting and documenting little stories of people and places, probably one of the sweetest jobs I've ever had. I really love the idea of investigating and documenting things that get lost in the crowd, wallflowers and the like.
