Name: Firenze.
Age: Unknown, but he appears to be in his early-to-mid twenties.
Birthday: September 14th.
Birthplace: Forbidden Forest.
Bloodline: Pureblood.
Appearance: Standing at 6"1', Firenze carries a misleading aura of commanding coldness. He has pale, startling blue eyes and clear, pale skin; the smooth torso of a man attached to the lithe body of a horse. He has waist-length, fine and flyaway hair of a white-blonde colour, and a permanently thoughtful look about him. Being a centaur, Firenze does not usually wear clothes, although he has an affinity with silver jewellery and can be seen wearing a small silver anklet on his left forehoof, with small bells on it. When seen around Hogwarts, he appears well-groomed and particular about his appearance - his hair is always immaculately brushed, his coat smoothed out quite obsessively; almost to the point of appearing reflective. A key to Firenze's feelings is often his hair - if something is wrong with the centaur, it takes on a slightly unkept, frizzy look.
Wand: Flexible willow with unicorn-hair core, 16 inches. Tempermental.
Pets: None, but Firenze is friendly with a raven known as Kiya in the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest, and he often uses her as opposed to school owls to send his post.
Special Abilities: Firenze has an intimate and in-depth knowledge of the centaurs's ways and the customs of the Forest, even if he is no longer permitted inside. Being a centaur, he possesses considerable grace and agility, and an almost constant alertness about his surroundings. He is adept at basic problem solving and code-cracking, but is useless with numbers.
Personality: Due to his nature and his upbringing, Firenze can appear cold and aloof, but he does have a softer side hidden underneath. He can seem to show a condescending air to his students, but once you gain his respect, he is actually a fairly lively and friendly person.
Firenze appears patient, but grudgingly so. His comments are sometimes voiced with an air of lurking impatience, although this is far from deliberate. He is not often impatient, but he is also not afraid to inform people that they are doing silly or "trivial" things.
He often feels rather alone around the school grounds, somewhat of a misfit due to his different species, and he conceals this by hiding away in classroom eleven for most of the time. His cryptic and occasionally caustic attitude is a type of defence against was he perceives as prejudice towards him from the students - as he has told them before quite firmly, "Centaurs are not the servants or playthings of humans."
History: Cracks first started showing in Firenze's relationship with his herd when he allowed Harry to ride on his back out of the Forest. Bane called him a "common mule", and expressed his disgust at Firenze's actions.
Following the centaur's recent decision to join Dumbledore and teach at the school, his herd have disowned him and banned him from returning to the forest. They see his actions as a betrayal of their kind, and although Firenze doesn't exactly show it, he often feels lonely inside the cold stone walls of the castle.
