Name:Alison
Location:Washington, Dist. of Columbia, United States
Birthdate:1975-05-11
Bio:My middle name--the name I use--is Alison. Once, in 3rd grade, a mean boy named Ali made it his business to torture me; he even hit me with his math book. Rat bastard! Therefore, I don't answer to Ali or Al (which was his nickname). I do, however, answer to A, but never, ever to my real first name, which you'll only discover if you know me well.

As you might've guessed, I'm a feminist. Not just... I'm also an activist and aspiring feminist scholar. I care very much about sex worker's rights, women's issues (whatever that means), LGBT issues, harm reduction, anti-racist movements, and the anti-war movement. Have I mentioned that I'm progressive? Hee! Don't worry; I'm okay with dissent, as long as it's respectful. And, yes,I do have a sense of humor... at least, that's what I tell myself.

What else, you ask? I am mightily obsessed with my beautiful, wonderful, perfect cats... Reilley, Gilbert, George, and Shannen. Unfortunately, Gilbey and Georgie live with my ex, so I don't see them often. I miss my babies!

When I'm not working (I'm a marginally employed freelance editor) or obsessing over my critters, I do leave the house. I enjoy coffee shops, bookstores, independent movie theaters, hiking trails, and dive bars. Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan are regular haunts. The club scene isn't my bag, but I can be found dancing like a rabid maniac on a shockingly regular basis. Bad A!

That said, I am also an avaricious reader, frustrated writer, soon-to-be graduate student, and shoestring traveller. If all goes well, I'll relocate to San Francisco in August 2003; I've been accepted into the Women Studies Program, and I'm very excited. Although I adore DC, I'm ready for new adventures.

Best,
Alison
