Billy Hex, born William Jenkins, grew up on an escapist literary diet of Beat writers, Kafka, Faulkner, Nabokov and the like. Born in the American midwest, he loathed the narrow minds and cyclical lives of those around him and longed to be a famous writer. At the age of 16, he left the midwest and headed for New York City, the love of his life. In a prototypical love affair with a city that he's dubbed Man's Ruin, he went in wide eyed and emerged addicted, roughed up and wily as a fox.
His writing has made a minor ripple in certain circles, but Billy Hex is best known as the lead singer of punk rock band Null.
Because of his harsh good looks and unlikely status as a sex symbol in the New York scene, Billy Hex was dubbed The Most Photogenic Wastrel In New York by one local critic.
