Alexandra is a beautiful, rich, pureblooded teenage witch. Although her "home" is in England, Alexandra spent most of her childhood at her family's many vacation houses around the world. Daughter of Alexander and Whitney Knowles, Alexandra is the youngest of three children, and the only daughter. As such, she is used to receiving large amounts of attention (whether she wants it or not), and has become all but spoiled rotten by her parents. She has hardly had to lift a finger since the day she was born, and has experienced the best of the best in all areas of life. She received much of her education and care from her nanny, and hardly socialized with others her age unless it was during expensive parties thrown by her parents or parents' friends. However, when Alexandra's sixteenth birthday began rapidly approaching and she still took no interest in dating or "settling down" with a suitable wizard, her parents became impatient and unhappy. As they put it, Alexandra was "breaking the Knowles tradition." Although Alexandra tries to appear as a classy young woman her mother and father would approve of, much of her rebelliousness and differing points of few have been blamed upon her lifelong nanny, who had just as much, if not more, of an impact on her. As a last resort of sorts, Mr. and Mrs. Knowles shipped Alexandra off to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where they hoped she would meet up with other wizards and witches of her stature, and, perhaps, find a young gentleman to bring home.

Although she intitally expects the greatest treatment possible no matter where she goes, Alexandra does not nessasarily believe herself to be above other people. Her lack of interaction with less privileged teens causes her to believe that most girls her age do or should receive the same services as she does at home, or simply that there is nothing wrong with her life style. Although she does tend to have her moody days, Alexandra's rude or "bitchy" behavior will usually have a good reason behind it - or at least she thinks it's a good reason. Tied in with the previously mentioned issues of superiority, Alexandra is constantly surrounded by house elves and talk of Muggles and/or mudbloods. Alexandra grew up with house elves always at her family's beck and call - it's the life she knows, and she sees no other way to go about it. Although her parents are much less tolerant of Muggles and mudbloods, Alexandra takes a slightly different point of view. As she hardly has to deal with Muggles on a one-on-one basis, she rarely pays them any mind. And although she doesn't completely approve of mudbloods, Alexandra has never been known to act our against them so far.
Alexandra looks upon her stay at Hogwarts as a severe punishment, and feels it is her duty to defy her parents wishes while she attends. However, in the end, Hogwarts may prove to be an extremely important and much needed growing and learning experience for Alexandra... an experience she could very possibly grow to appreciate.
