I was wondering how does everyone feel about GC's decision to release "Hold On" as a single? I'm not really liking the idea. That song isn't the type to be a single, I would have thought "Riot Girl" would have been a single.

Sorry if you saw this in another community but I was curious if anyone else was having mixed feelings like me

	I think they need to stop whoring this album. It was bad enough without overplaying EVERY SINGLE SONG on it. If they're going to release another single, I think it should be Riot Girl, because I hate that song with a passion, and it just might kill them off. (Reply to this) (Thread)

i_ate_glass, you need to calm down. In a way, I wish they would release 'Hold On' as a single, to show all those teenie's that there is more to there music than just 'The Anthem' and stupid song's like that, and also, because that song is really good. But then again, I do think they are over-using this album. They are letting out to many single's at one time. With-in a few weeks they released 'Boys And Girls' and 'The Young And The Hopeless'...It was stupid... (Reply to this) (Thread)

	I know. I think it's great that they got so huge, but if they keep dragging it out, it's going to go down hill. I can understand them 'Milking it for what its worth', but that saying doesnt really go with this. 'Pushing your luck' is better for this. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I can't calm down if I'm not worked up to begin with. It happens to be my opinion that they are whoring themselves to death with this album. They're alienating old fans, and god knows they're going to die out and lose the majority of the new fans within a year or two. If there is one thing I've learned from listening to music, it's that 'teenies' are going to go with any trend that flies by. They aren't going to appreciate the lyrics/musical value of anything, it's something that isn't programmed into their brains. The Anthem actually has a good theme to it. The idea behind the song is what made me love it, yet now I see the people it was written about falling in love with it, and I'm bitter. It's selfish, I know, but I don't want to watch the same thing happen to another of the few songs with any meaning on this album. On a completely separate note, the reason they released both songs was marketing. TYATH is marketed towards the rock crowd, while Girls and Boys is marketed towards the pop crowd. I can completly relate to that. It was just sounding like you were pissed off that they became so popular. While I do love the band, and there music, I like them being so popular. You get to see them more often on tv, and stuff like that. If you want to know the truth, without teenie's, there probably wouldnt be a GC. I don't like the teenie's, and I don't appreciate them being such dumbasses, and not understanding the concept of most of the song's (all they here is 'OMG LIKE THIS SONG IS TOTALLY KOOL!') I do appreciate the fact that they helped the guy's become what they are today. The guy's have done a great job to be where they are, but without there old fan's, they would'nt have been big enough for anyone to recognize them. Do you get what I mean? 	benji is pathetic saying at shows "it's not worth it to kill yourself" it totally ruins the mood of the song, it could be somewhat serious but to see a 5'5 guy up there, lying for the world, saying not to kill yourself to a bunch of little girls he could care less about makes it an amusing song. I know Hold on isnt the type of song thats usuallyreleased..because its a slow song, kind of. . . and true a song like Riot Girl would probably be a hit, and on TRL for 50 days and everything.. but if they released Hold On..atleast it would show that they havent forgotten that when they started out, they wrote songs with meaning. Roit Girl is a song about his bad ass girlfriend..and thats not really gonna help most people..but Hold On..on the other hand could actually help people out, I know it helped me. lala.. okay.. i think its a good idea, well, i know what you mean, i sooo expected Riot Girl, b/c they have all the RG pins and etc, shit you know? but like, i think Hold On will be better, b/c Benji gave an interview saying that, it relates alot (something to that effect) you know? like some one could hear it, and i reach them. hence y i love gc, they're not ego-tystical pigs ^.^ so, i just wondered if you had read that interview, its on MTV or what ever.. it cool. hope my band turns out good shit like that. so did not read all the other stuff b/4 that too... yeah, they really are whoring the album, and, additionally, Benji is whoring himself, he's freaking everywhere, but i still love gc, as for the 30$, man, thats a pay-check for me. blah. no one gets shown off, they make it out that Benji and Joel are totally everything, other people are like "paul? billy? what? who's that?" and its sad, i dont think they will die b/c of that, but their light will burn out, and they will be left only with the deep-rooted fans, all teenies/groupies/and pissed off fans will go, and they'll be right back where they started.. they've gone way to pop, even though i love TYATH so fucking much. and.. well, hope you dont think i look like a dick now.. eek (Reply to this) (Thread)
