    My sister--
    Sarcastically smirking
    Then lovingly smiling
    Rubbing my nose
    And making monkey faces
    Then shouting
    Threatening
    Calling me names
    I can't put here.

    My sister--
her hair swinging in the wind
    Like strips of silk
    Black silk, wild
    Soaked in one zig-zag ray
    Of bouncy, joyful sunlight

    My sister--
    commanding us
    She's the captain
    Who stands
At the prow of her ship
    Proudly
    No reason to be scared.

    My sister--
    Daredevil
    Could dangle from the clouds
    And call the fall nothing
Could bang her head on the door
    Laugh the bump away.

    My sister--
    Worried
    About other people
    Their thoughts
    Of her.
Whether she's always the weird kid--
    Homeschooled, bookish.

    My sister--
    Like a poem
    That no one
    Can solve.

    My sister--
    Like a tree
    No one
    Can cut down.

    My sister--
    Like a ship
    Ironclad
With only a tiny secret entrance.
