    Hello Group!
I joined this group a couple months ago but have yet to post! My name is Jeann and I have been working out and eating healthy for the past 4 months. I lost 23-26 pounds, as it fluctuates, and I'm starting to hit what is often described the 'plateau'. However, I feel (more) fit than I have ever bee-- I run 2.5 miles 4-5 times a week and eat plenty of nutritious meals. I am just wondering - - I am not eager to lose more weight, but rather maintain the weight I am at. Is it possible to reduce my exercise routine and maintain a moderate to mostly healthy eating routine to maintain the weight that I'm at? I am feeling afraid that I will put all my hard work to waste by gaining it back in a matter of weeks! I'd appreciate any tips or suggestions.

Welcome Jeann.
I think it is possible to lower your exercise and eat moderately. It's just finding that balance amount of each. That is probably harder than any part of a diet. I am currently working on the weight loss myself, but I always seem to fall apart after that part. I think it is a week to week kind of thing. Try a few things one week. See how that goes, and then adjust it for the next week.
I hope that's not too much of a cop out answer. :)
Jon

Glad to see you posting, and congrats on the weight loss! That's great. If you have any tips on how you lost the weight, I bet folks would love to hear them. Maintenance is really just a matter of numbers...calories in vs. calories out. If you are planning on cutting down on exercise, you'll have to cut down a bit on the intake as well in order to avoid gaining weight. This calculator http://www.caloriecontrol.org/healthy-weight-tool-kit/weight-maintenance-calculator-women
(sorry the link is so long) will tell you exactly how many calories you need to consume to maintain your current weight. Until you get the hang of maintaining your weight without exercise, you might find it helpful to keep a food journal or to use a food journaling site like Fitday or Dailyplate. Good luck!
