I wonder how old is too old for Naporxen?

A couple of years ago I developed "gout" like symptoms and I was able to pop some Naporxen that I had for something else and the pain would go away after 2 or 3 doses.
Well, yesterday I started to feel some discomfort in my ankle again, so I started to take some Naporxen that I still had. Just woke up and and the ankle is more sore now than it has been in some time. And of course it's the weekend which means I need to tough it out until at least Monday before I can see someone. I refuse to go to the ER for "gout".
I do slightly question that it is gout. I have seen people that have had it down in the more common big toe area. They are generally red and swallon.
My ankle isn't red or swallon.

	Mammoth got that gout a couple years ago and it tends to flare up once in a while. He's not one to take Rx drugs, but seems that organic tart cherry juice helps. I'm not sure, but think it can develop in other joints, it's just most common in the foot/toes. Hope your ankle starts to feel better soon! (Reply to this) (Thread)

I am not so sure that it is gout now. It's different than it was a couple of years ago. Then it pain through the whole ankle joint. Now it is just pain along the inside edge of the ankle. I popped some Ibuprofin tonight when I got up. It's new compared to the couple of year old Naporxen. Will see if that makes a difference. Otherwise I guess I will have to call and see if I can see somebody tomorrow. Doubt I will get to see my doctor. They NEVER have openings on short notice. :p I really don't think I can work on it the way it is now. Seriously falling apart as I get older. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	You poor thing. My step-dad had gout, certain foods would case it to flair up. Very very very painful. Ankle, top of foot. So swollen he had a special pair of slippers and so much paid to walk that he couldn't leave the house. (Reply to this) (Thread)
