    Hello everyone *waves*

I just found this community at random and decided that it might be a good thing to chat with some people who are actually above the age of pubertys onset. Not that I have a problem with the younger folks, it's just that I can't relate anymore, I guess...anyone else starting to feel old??

Anyway, just looking for some Blurty friends, and you guys seem like an interesting bunch...

Anybody mind if I pull up a chair?

    -Kat

i've felt old since i was 12. I look around and said "what the hell is wrong with you people?" Right now I figure I'm about equal to a 60 yr old woman, I'm content in my rut, I'm scared and suspicious of teenagers and live in a house with a bunch of cats.

'tis a jolly life indeed.

well, at least you always have the cats...

so, recently i have more and more caught myself throwing sideways glances at big groups of teens and tsk-tsking to myself...how sad is that?

when did i turn into my mother??

groups of teens make me either sigh or roll my eyes, it just seems liek standards and general common sense decreases among 13-19 yr olds as the generations go by.

and my mother turned into a teenager with her midlife crisis, now she's the one leavign notes that say "going out be back?" and gettignher navel pierced and calling me at 2am, saying "I'm at my boyfriend and I drank too much so i'm not comeing home" while I've been sitting up worried half to death.

I'm convinced the world's just gone nutty.

nice to meet ya by the way

does it bother you to have had to step into that role?

but, i suppose you are right...
it makes more sense in the long run for me to turn into my mother, then for her to turn into me.

she wouldn't make a very good me anyway...

nice to meet you as well, by the way.

meh it bothered me at first and then i suppose i kinda accepted it. i'm trying to avoid turning into my mother tho, if that ever happens i hope they have suicide legalized at that point. i mean i love my mom and all,l but if i becoem her i'd have to go insane.

i can understand that. but, if i had to bet, it sounds to me like you have yourself pulled together enough to maintain your own unique personality no matter what life throws in your direction, and to keep your chin up through it all.

so, i wouldn't worry about becoming her in the end...it sounds to me like are doing a fine job of being you :)

Hey guys, I realize this conversation took place a month ago...and I just joined now and saw this post. I used to think the same the same way...like my mother...and now I'm doing a practicum at a high school and I am beginning to remember what it is that intimidates me about them and what high school was like. I am beginning to relate a little more. Of course...they're still kids trying to understand their place in the world. I can't say I'd want to go back and do it again. I'm turning 32 next month and I am mystified at just how quick time goes by! The great thing about being older is that we can be role models for these kids. If we can tolerate them! lol
