Ipecac Geek Show Tour: Tomahawk, Fantomas, Melvins - Hordern Pavillion, Sydney, 13th December 2003
It was probably the loudest concert I've been to in quite a while. My ears were ringing for hours afterwards, but it was a lot of fun. Fantomas were great, of course, playing lots from the first album, plus Der Golem, Investigation of a Citizen Under Suspicion, and The Omen. And Mike Patton was in fine voice. The Melvins were also pretty good, and their first two songs (from the Fantomas Melvins Big Band Millennium Monsterwork) they did with Patton, which was excellent. Although Tomahawk were supposed to be the headliner, I think they only played for about an hour, whereas the Melvins played for longer than that. That is my only criticism. Although, the dj, Jay Katz, was pretty annoying as well. I didn't know until we got to Moore Park that Robbie Williams was playing at Aussie Stadium right next door. It made for a lot of Robbie Williams jokes. During the Tomahawk set, some guy managed to get up on stage and yell into the microphone: "Fuck Robbie Williams! Mike Patton is a born entertainer!" before getting dragged off. That was a hilarious moment. Anyway, I can't say I really remember much. It was just over 3 hours of riffage! And Mike Patton = god (or some other unspecified deity), lol.
