The Unsanctioned Party
This evening there was a disruption in Diagon Alley when Sirius Black offered a "party" for not only his godson Harry Potter, but for the entire troupe of Potter's companions. I got wind of the incident a couple hours after it had started, and hurried to reclaim any of those under my care after alerting the Heads of the other three Houses (who, incidentally, failed to respond).
When I arrived, I found a scene of utter chaos. Students were lounging about clinging to one another and disgustingly inebriated, including a number who are well known to be underage. How Black can be so irresponsible at his age, I do not know. He must not have matured at all during his stay in Azkaban, where he perhaps still belongs.
But perhaps the most shocking out of all the night's events was the behaviour of my Slytherins, when finally I found them. Draco Malfoy and Elizabeth Greingrass were especially obstreperious, having decided to flee out a back window when my untimely arrival interrupted their imminent coitus. I was forced to restrain them via spells, during which time I was able to restore order to the flat. When those spells expired, however, those two managed to escape and fled into the night.
To any Slytherins who chance to read this, I would like to publicly declare my disgust at your deportment last night. Consorting with Gryffindors is one thing, but attending a Gryffindor party at an ex-convict's house, hundreds of miles from Hogwart's and without even a message to your House Head, is beyond belief. You should each and every one of you be ashamed of your behaviour. I cannot stress this strongly enough. In addition, your disrespect for authority--for your own Head of House--in front of the others last night was grossly unacceptable. You will all enjoy dorm lock-down tonight and every night for two weeks, beginning at 8pm and ending at 6am. If you have any questions, you may see me individually. I will not tolerate nor overlook such revolting deportment. I expect you all to use this time to think about how one behaves toward one's House Head whilst in the public eye.
The Gryffindors, surprisingly enough, were the least disobedient of the attendees last night, and did not try to flee or smart-mouth me at all. For that--and as an extra slap against the disgusting disobedience of my House--I award Gryffindor five points. Yes, you read that right. I don't want to hear a -word- from any of you about it, either.
And Slytherins, do be sure to "congratulate" Mister Malfoy and Miss Greingrass on your time of forced reflection. Had they been less abrasive, you would all still have your freedom.
--Professor S. Snape, Head of Slytherin
