Screw politics, screw war. Screw corporations who care only about their profits, and if human comfort and well being is part only of their business plans, screw that too. I am not proud to be part of this fucking species, because this fucking species can't see beyond it's own selfish needs, and those of us that can see shall be convinced otherwise.
We have an opportunity and we're wasting it. This opportunity has been given to us by cosmological luck and by evolution. And yet we squander it by living in the here and now, by concentrating our energy on petty issues such as ownership, market share, election results. What the fuck do we think we're doing?
At the end of the day, who gives a flying fuck who is in office as long as we can live, as long as we can breath clean air, eat enough fresh food, drink enough clean water and live our lives freely, able to nurture our own opinions and thoughts.
Each and every one of us is being stifled because we are all living the dreams of a minority. These wars that are at present growing in magnitude. Yes, the nuclear one we've all been fearing this past sixty years is just around the corner, we're all being pulled that way by a few men and women. Billions of our lives are at stake, and for what?
Do you think the people on the streets of Iraq wanted to die? Do you seriously think that every member of Al Quada is evil, that the whole of the nation of North Korea wants to kill us and our families with the weapons their government had developed because they are afraid? If you do, then you are part of the problem.
I do not believe in anarchy, I do not believe in violent revolution. I do not believe in war and I do not believe that the human race is as polar an entity as religion and government would have us believe. As long as we believe what we are told, as long as we swallow the indoctrinations of Bush, of Blair, of the people who pull their strings, then there will be no hope, our futures bleak and full of hatred.
I used to have nightmares when I was a child, nightmares of apocalypse. Not biblical, but brought upon us from the very people who are meant to be our best, who are meant to represent our interests. Now those nightmares are back, and it is my own son who has to face them and grow up, or not, in their wake. As long as we focus on hatred and destruction, as long as we use science to find new ways to kill each other, the very treasures of the universe will never be ours.
How arrogant we are to disregard the massive trick of chance that put us here, how stupid we are to turn our faces away from the cosmos, and toward the petty, animalistic aggression of our neighbors, our own distant relatives. We have progressed no further than the animals we share this world with. all our technology, everything we have created so far shall account for nothing when they are but ashes. We are a wasteful, bickering and primitive species. Perhaps we don't deserve to live after all.
