More Than One Way to Beat a Dead Horse
I wrote some poetry (I don't consider myself a poet). I told my grandparents, and my grandfather's response was "not much money in poetry."

    ******
Also, interesting to notice. Men seem quite keen on women with long full hair worn in pigtails. Soren as well. I'm not sure if it's the long hair or the pigtails part that turn men into doting fools (as opposed to the regular, non doting variety) but, like with everything else about sex I don't understand, I just write it off as some Catholic quirk. (It is of course helpful, but by no means required for the man in question to actually be Catholic.)
    ******
Very strange night with Soren on Saturday. Actually, very strange night in general with the highlight being the triumphant debut of the New Satan's Cheerleaders who were fantastic and fit right in.

Strange night with Soren as we both spent the morning in various states of undress trying to convince the other one (alternately, and in unison)that we weren't romantically involved and moreover, really really really shouldn't be. I understand, but I'm still pretty sure he's convinced I've got a unicorn-laden trapper-keeper somewhere with his name written a thousand times in hearts. My thoughts: Why mess up a good thing? I like my lower-case R relationship, and a capital R one would cause me nothing but heartache. The more I think about it, the more I realize that while I really and truly love and admire Soren in a very friendly sort of way, I would be miserable in a romantic relationship with him, and would probably end up jumping off a bridge.

This would be bad, because I'm lazy, so I would most likely end up jumping off the Congress Avenue Bridge, since it's closest to my apartment. Now, for those of you who don't know, that particular bridge is home to 2.6 million Mexican freetail bats. Million. Now I don't know the effects of one cinder-blocked woman plummeting off the bridge 2.6 million bats choose to call their home, but believe me when I tell you I don't want to find out.

Pigtails? No, I don't think it's a Catholic quirk. Just better head control!
*runs aways chuckling*

Although those big "R" relationships can be tough, I suppose one has to try it every once in a while - going for that something that is a little deeper and maybe just finding it.

the problem is, it's as deep a relationship as I've ever had...it's not just deep it's profound. as profound as I can get without my head caving in. It's huge. Spiritual, symbolic, the sort of relationship that deserves symphonies and sonnets...it's just not boyfriend and girlfriend. And it SHOULDNT be.

That does sound very anxiety-ridden. To have so much there, and to fear that it might not be there... so wonderful and so worrisomely doubtful.

What can one say? Savor what you have, and may it grow!

on hair: i have long, straight hair. of late it's become ridiculously long, and i'm thinking about cutting it off so i don't have to worry about sitting on it. it has a strange power over men, though. grown men get all "aww shucks" and strangers want to touch it. i'm pretty nondescript but when i let me hair down men stare and go all googleyed. and in pigtails, (yes monk, they make great reins), that just seems to be even better. i always assumed it was a kind of heidi fetish.
on school supplies: "..he's convinced I've got a unicorn-laden trapper-keeper somewhere with his name written a thousand times in hearts." hey now, some of us really loved our unicorn trapper keepers...
on soren: what is it that he does for a living? i seem to remember something about him from your posts way back but i'm too lazy to search...

he's a lawyer, almost was a priest, and is president of a huge faith-based charity in Austin (he's very open minded, and was a student of the great Louis Mackey) Someday he'll be a philosophy professor, I hope.

Also, he's in a kick ass psychobilly band. I have short almost black hair that looks marcelled when I brush it out and falls in ringlets when I don't. I have it in a simple 50's style cut, and it's very glamorous so I love it, but it's too much work to keep long. The huge full pigtails drove everyone wild. Men are funny like that.

sometimes I forget to call him Soren. I have another journal, that has the same stuff as this one, but also has a lot of real-life friends who read it. They know Michael as Michael. If you like Psychobilly check out The Flametrick Subs and The Blue Flames.
