post your thoughts on this question: just because you have a personal belief, should you blindly believe it is going to happen? for example, if you're a red sox fan, should you believe the red sox will win? if you are a fan of John Kerry, is it wrong to recognize George Bush has a better shot of winning? I for one feel that there's nothing to be gained about being blind to anything. Realism just might hurt. Deal with it. Your thoughts?

realism does hurt sometimes, but I definitely agree with you. it can only hurt that much more if you have no idea it was coming, like if you managed to come into contact with the front end of a train. if you had looked down the tracks, or stopped when you saw the blinking lights, you might have been late for that appointment that was just on the other side of the tracks, but, let's face it: now you're not even going to get there. My aunt is some political science person or something down in DC and she makes it on the telly (I had to call it that, and I apologize) anyway, she just emailed me and said she thinks things are looking up for Kerry a little, even though she's been saying all along it was definitely Bush. I have no idea, because I have no contact with any kind of news of the outside world, but that's my input. Yeah, blindness is generally bad. It's good sometimes when you're being blind on purpose, which is more like turning the other cheek...just because then you don't have to notice all the rawness of human fallacies. that's not actually good, it just feels better, okay, never mind... <3 Callie (Reply to this) (Thread)

	Of course it may hurt, but nothing ever got done by giving in to the opposite side. That's why there are two sides. 	i agree with that, but i think it's kind of different because galileo put years of research behind his challenge to the standard, i merely have an opinion that's no more different than millions of other americans. i guess blind faith bothers me. and i think that it's blind faith to believe that you're going to get what you want sometimes. i personally don't think you should blindly believe anything. i think that for anything you believe in, whether its the greatness of the red sox, or that your mom makes the best pie, you should be aware that you can be wrong. if you cant accept that you might be wrong, then reality will hurt. 300 years ago everyone was postive that the world was flat, i think that shows that even things you think are such 'truisms' cannot blindly be believed. to some extent though, you should put all your confidence into something, because i know that having the attitude, especially in sports, that the other team will probably win, is not how you go about getting pumped up to win. Sure, the yankees always win, but that doesn't stop me from telling yankees fans without any doubt that the red sox are going to win the championship. did i make any sense? (Reply to this) (Thread)

It is hard to tell, being that it is hard to tell if you can have an opinion of your own. To quote, "the thing that separates you from me, is a thing called originality." Can we be original, or do we just mix other people ideas and ideals? If we do this, can we stand behind our own opinions? I know this was supposed to be about blind faith, but when are we, at this age, ever truely covinted on one opinion? When are we not questioning ourselves? (Reply to this) (Thread)

When there is an Eclipse on the week of the full moon six days before election night and the red sox havent won the world series in 86 years right before baby ruth left the team. YES you must believe.
