The only thing wrong with being involved in numerous clubs and activities in high school is that they need to be supported. They need meetings and preparations. They need constant fundraisers and car washes. Now these fundraisers are often pickpockets, especially when the merchandise is a rip-off. A pack of M&Ms is not worth $1, but that is the price at which I must offer them. Not only do these fundraisers take money from students, but me as well. Now that in itself is tragic. Instead of selling all 42 bags of Skittles or bars of Kit-Kat or whatever it is, I will end up selling about 10 (on a good week) and must fork over the other $32. That is what makes me unhappy. What can I do with 26 bags of "king-size" peanut M&Ms? Of course, inevitably they will be eaten, most likely by yours truly. It will bring cavities and unsatisfaction and an empty pocket ( I shove everything in my pockets because I don't believe in wallets or purses. I figure I won't lose my pants... )
So this candy sale for ASB is not working out well. I have sold 8 packs of Starburst/Snickers/M&Ms out of 36.
My pockets do not need to be lightened, thank you very much. I would honestly like to buy that new CD and perhaps a present for my father for his birthday. I could get my dad an "abstract gift," if you will. I can type out a paper that says I will try to not talk back as much and give it to him in a nice card from the 99cent store since it seems like that is all I'm going to be able to afford.
Yes, high school, I am not rich and prosperous like our President or someone like that. I do not have a job. I am simply a lowly sophomore with a taste for short stories, music and the occasional gallon of ice cream.
