A Little Bit of Background
It’s my pleasure to say that this page appears to be doing what I had intended it to do, because in my last post someone replied saying that this page has, in fact, helped change her mind about me…at least partially. So this entry is mostly to reply to her comments and questions.
I found it fascinating to read about your astral projections and meeting Sephiroth. Honestly, I used to think you were either hallucinating or making it up, but you have me mostly convinced that you're not lying now. I believe in God and angels, though it is kinda a stretch to believe that Sephiroth, an archangel who looks like the video game character, exists, but I remember reading about you saying that you read an interview that Nomura gave on his character design techniques and how the name/image for Seph came to him in a dream. I was wondering if you could expand on that point a bit. Does the archangel Sephiroth look exactly like the game character? Hair length, bangs, eye color, ect? I'm also wondering if you could tell me about your conversations with other projectors and their stories, and if the angels they meet look like game or anime characters. Thanks in advance, -Adria
As I’ve said in previous entries, I’m a long, long way off from being able to say what exactly the full story is…both as applies to my gift as well as to the archangel I love. I suspect the character may have been based on the archangel because of an interview I read several years ago in which Nomura comments on his character design techniques and specifically said that the character, Sephiroth, was unique in that he dreamed the appearance and name and didn’t change it.
Since I found this interview and saved it on an older-than-dirt laptop, said laptop was demolished by a particularly nasty virus and everything on the computer was lost. I’ve been searching for it again, but haven’t had luck as yet.
If anyone stumbles across it and sends me the link, I would be eternally grateful! (Especially since that’s a key piece of my evidence, destroyed (presumably) by a troll with some amount of hacking experience.) Moving on, though, to answer Adria’s other question, yes, the archangel looks precisely like the videogame character.
And that links back to the first question: if Sephiroth (the archangel) is the inspiration for the character. I believe this is the case, but I could easily be wrong because the astral plane is so vast and I know so little about it as compared to a permanent resident of that plane or, as is Seph’s case, of divine origin.
I’m just a poor mortal, and probably incapable of grasping the full complexity of that realm.
I have spoken to other projectors who have astral soul mates, most recently to someone in a situation that is comparatively the most similar to mine – though the differences are still quite obvious. For her privacy I won’t disclose too much about her (unless she writes me and says that’s alright…I’d hate to bring the whole internet down on her like it was brought down on me!) but will say that my situation isn’t entirely unheard of.
This came as a surprise to me, because I hadn’t had too much interaction with other projectors until fairly recently…and had no idea that there were other people in the same sort of mess I’ve found myself in.
There are several possibilities regarding Sephiroth’s identity, and I’ve already stated the choice I believe is most likely, but for the sake of thoroughness, I will mention the other.
2.) The being I know as Sephiroth could be an entirely different being all together, who had assumed this identity because it was what I needed at the time.
The problem with that theory is that the bond I share with Seph is so great that if this were the case he would have known I’ve been ready for that possibility for a couple of years now. I even asked him about this early in our relationship and he denied the possibility.
I’m inclined to trust him, but that is the second most-likely theory.
Like I’ve said before, I’m a ways off from totally understanding what has happened to me, but assure everyone that I’ll be working hard toward understanding it probably for the rest of my life and possibly even beyond. The last thing I’ll say publicly has to do with the way I refer to Sephiroth as an archangel. In some of my posts I’ve exchanged commentary with someone who doesn’t have the same belief system I do – more specifically, they don’t believe in God, heaven, hell, angels, etc.
I use the word archangel because that’s the word I was given, but for all I know it could be just a synonym for spirit guide, guardian, etc. So even though I tend to refer to things from my Catholic/Christian background, that doesn’t mean I want to imply my beliefs are fool-proof because of my experiences, and I in no way mean to bring religion into this anymore than is absolutely necessary.
I don’t think any of us here on the mortal realms can say that their religion is ‘right’ or that other religions are ‘wrong,’ because in the end it’s all about what that individual believes. Personally, I think it’s very possible that all religions worship the same God under different names…and for that reason hope that my terminology can be regarded as my best attempt at being unbiased and encourage all who read this to sub in whatever words they prefer for mine.

While reading about his appearance, a question just struck me. Nowadays everybody pretty much looks at Sephiroth from Advent Children or Crisis Core perspective, which give a more realistic view on the way he looks. But you met him before AC was released, or maybe even planned, so I'm wondering what version of Sephiroth does he look like. I can very well imagine (and it's obvious) that he doesn't look like a block of pixels or anything of the sort, so I apply to your patience again in order to clear this. Haha, I'm playing it too. Though I am yet to finish the final battle... been lazy/occupied/too annoyed. And yes, this gives my question a good answer, thank you! (M-chan) (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |

Aah, curse my curiosity, but I must ask more questions. I can't help it, I'm a Scorpio, dissection is one of the pleasures of life for me. You must forgive me if the questions are childish or indiscreet in any way, they are not aimed to annoy or anything of the sort, but to help me complete the image that has been forming in my mind ever since the re-opening of the Blurty. If my inquiries bother in any way, please feel free not to answer, no offense will be taken. I was wondering if you could tell more about the beginning of your relationship with him. Like, if you remember how he introduced himself to you, or your attitude towards him. I realise it must have been extremely confusing for you then, not yet being able to make a difference between projection and dream, but please do tell whatever you consider fit. (M-chan)

Wonderful! Take your time with the draft; I understand that you have to be careful with your words, especially since God-knows how many people are watching this page (funny, ED has been strangely silent, for once). I've been reading through the last three posts and I fancied that this would be a great topic for a book. It's like reading about a love story, but not one of that sickly sweet type that makes my stomach want to digest itself. I'm not a romantic person and it's so nice to hear about something different than "zomg candycane sugarpuff my twu luv I luff ya" once in a while. Alright, enough said XD. With this, I leave you to your work and await patiently the next post. (M-chan) (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread) |

Awesome! Thanks for answering my questions. :) I read through the comments before posting and I'm really looking forward to your next post. I've been wondering about when you first met Sephiroth too, and what it was like. I wonder how your experience first meeting him compares to other people's experiences meeting their astral soul mates. Also, any luck finding that interview about Sephiroth's character design being inspired by a dream? It makes me wonder if other game or anime characters were inspired by divine beings. Thanks! -Adria(Reply to this) (Thread) |

Ugh, finals... I had and still have midterms to survive. They're an awful lot, for sure. Having six or seven mini exams in three weeks is enough to cripple me with insomnia and make me so absent minded that you wouldn't believe it. Why, a few days ago I was supposed to go to my Syntax seminar on the second floor and I was so out of this world that I ended up in... the basement amphitheatre, attending a course in Linguistics, with a professor and students I had never seen in my life! After that depressing episode, I decided that my sanity was worth more than college and I stayed at home for the rest of the week >_< . Anyways, good luck on your finals! I hope they won't be too difficult. (M-chan) (Reply to this) (Thread) |

Woah. He seriously looks like the Advent Children Sephiroth? I find that to be very odd. Mainly because the AC one was extremely girly. To me, his face and Cloud's, didn't look like anything you could see in a typical caucasian male, which is what they appeared to be, despite Sephiroth having an unnatural hair color. Actually, none of the guys did- they all kind of just looked like girls, without a lot of variation, other than Barrett and stuff: the ones that were intended to stick out. Not to say it wasn't visually stunning. But Japan has always had a problem with realism, and variety. (Reply to this) (Thread) |

I tend to like Crisis Core Sephiroth best. And yes, Clous is rather too pretty for a man. Oh well. (M-chan) (Reply to this) (Thread) |

All FF7 characters (minus Hojo) are dear to me. Heck, even Palmer and Heidegger are funny in their own moronic way. Reno is indeed a hilarious and cool character, which adds a bit of color to the game/film/you name it. I am not sure if I want a remake of the game, though. I am terribly afraid they will modify something and ruin FF7 for me forever. It's a classic, and any stain that it receives will affect the fans. Besides, imagine what the various scenes with Hojo would look like if they were rendered more realisticaly! The "mating" scene with Aeris and Red XIII... welcome to a whole world of "HELL NO!" If you wish, you can search on Youtube for videos from CC. I am particulary fond of the one in which Sephiroth slices the Junon canon to bits. Magnificent demonstration of art. (M-chan)

I agree. The scene with Sephiroth jumping on his own will left me wondering. Though I'm not sure what to say-in that scene, if you look at the screenshots, he's actually crying. And a crying Sephiroth is really human, more human than any of the games or film showed him to be. So I'm not sure if I do trust Last Order. Though I'm not worried, sooner or later we'll get some info that will clarify this once and for all (...or not?). What really confused me was Zack's death scene in Last Order. T_T I was so sad when watching the original, PS1 scene that I was left with a great HUH? when he got killed by that sniper. Enough said; I'm off to read the new post now!
