So yes, the dinner was Saturday. It did turn out okay, though there were some slight problems. To reduce costs we had to order meals ahead. Everyone had to pick their choice form a simple menu with three choices for each course, making it possible for everyone to order what they like. Simple concept, I believe.

Not so simple when it comes to family members! There is this one sweet lady, mother of three, who has a just-as-sweet husband, who is smart, funny and extremely scatter brained. First he was late dropping of the order. Then he mixed something up and at the dinner I was walking around trying to trade a plate of fried mushroom heads for anything else. So yeah, I spent a good 35 minutes on that. Luckily I found someone who finally gave in. Oh well.

The talks were boring, the choir was good, the kids performing were sweet. Oh yes, we did have a choir, a local elementary school's choir. They were pretty good, I just found it a tad offensive that we specifically asked them not to include religious songs and their selections included two Christmas Anthems.

The food... Well, the food was all right. I was hoping it was going to be better, but the cookies made by the members and their families turned out to be the best. Also Janó's idea of seating cards worked perfectly as people disliking each other got seated far from each other. So there was no bickering, no complaints and no yelling.

To be honest, I had fun, yet I found this evening to be more work than fun. Maybe because of being a bit sick. Maybe because I am a worry wort. But it was a success and that is what matters the most to me.

Derek has been doing as expected. He has been having a horrible headache, a constant low grade fever and he has been sleeping a lot. Finally some meds that do work. He should be able to fight the meningitis. He should be all better withing two to three weeks.

I am really happy that your dinner turned out fairly well. Sorry you had to wrok so much of it though. Thank goodness for homemade cookies. Right? lol...
Thank you for the update on Derek. I am glad to hear that things seem to be going okay. Just once I would like for him to get a break.
You need to stay healthy too. Okay?

What a pity I wasn't there! I love mushrooms and would have swapped almost anything for yours. :-)

I'm glad Derek is on the mend, and especially that he's getting plenty of sleep.

Oh, I had mushrooms as well, so I couldn't help them with the trading it.

Kevin came home from Derek this morning. He said that Derek's headache hasn't improved at all. He was put on oxygen and IV nutrition as he can't keep anything down. I have to wonder if that is because of the medication or the meningitis?

Thank you for the Christmas card! Kevin put it on Derek's wall.

Oh, poor Derek! I do wish something would go right for him. I hope he's feeling better very soon.
