    Current mood: tired

Last week in Advanced Writing for the Media, we were assigned to make a budget. Upon learning how it was an assignment to plan, I thought this was going to be easy. As I started to make a plan for what I wanted my imaginary journalists to cover at the upcoming circus event, I ran into some problems. Maybe it is my personality or me being a young communication professional, but I started to plan what my journalists would have reported on after going to the event. I took planning too far as this was brought to my attention from the professor and another student. I started to just plan an outline of what the journalists might report a story on by keeping the budget broad. By leaving the budget broad, it allowed room for possible stories that could develop with an objective in mind. At the start of making the budget, I forgot to think simple thus making it complicated. When I had to apply the budget to an online webpage, this was the first time I have pulled from my creative side to help complete the assignment. I had to make a draft of what each objective on the budget covered and place it where it would be placed on the online webpage.

I like being creative, so the last part was easier for me to do. I hope my creativity can continue to inspire me to produce good work. I have hobbies where I make crafts for my family and friends. The process it takes to make a craft for a single person in mind takes a lot of work, but is well worth it in the end. With this in mind, I can see myself being assigned to make an advertisement for a company or brand and produce something no one else can. The process will be similar by trying to have a single brand or company in mind and in the end I hope it pays off for my as a future advertiser.
