hey matt bellamy! my name is mike nelson. i'm a huge fan of your group and i just wanted to let you know how much i appreciate and enjoy the music you create. i'm hoping that this really is your site but i just wanted to say that your absolution tour is amazing! i saw muse perform down outside of boston at the cure curiosa tour last summer and you guys were so unbelievable! my girlfriend and i have been fans for a while and i just wanted to say that i can't understand why your group hasn't gotten the fame and respect that you guys diserve over here in the states. The musical styles important in the radio and label industries of rock are pathetic. every single person in your group are REAL musicians! you've done more than just your homework!!!!!! I watched your concert that you performed at in L.A. with modest mouse and all those bands. it was pathetic that you guys weren't the headlining act!! absolution was the best album period since you guys released it. everything that everyone else has been writing is just shit. i also respect the fact that you guys have been doing your thing for years and every album that you've produced has gotten more exciting from the next. I really enjoyed showbiz but it's so sad that it's taken this long to even have had a chance to see you and your fantastic group live. by the way, did you study classical theory and 20th century harmony on your own? your harmonic knowledge and melodic lines are very nice and extremely beautiful! not many people can play three note chord voicings that could fill up and sound so thick. you just do not hear anyone that has their classical/jazz language built up so strongly. your progressions are amazing and i love your romantic and impressionalistic touches here and there. when you were young, what were you listening to the most? did you transcribe much? you are an amazingly versatile pianist, guitarist, vocalist, producer, artist and visionary and i just wanted to thank you for writing about things that mean something and trying to at least the way i see it, make the world a better place with your music. so many people are dark when it comes to rock but you brought so much light to it by doing what you do. you are undoubtly the best guitarist that i've seen live. and your tone is amazing! well, i just wanted to say hello and hopefully sometime you'll see this post. it's also pretty cool to know that you aren't just hiding away. it's cool to be able to come to an online journal and see that it's our favorite influential musicians or favorite stars. you've made a huge impact on me musically as well as with all my buds in my band. thanks again for doing what you guys do. you are in the best band on the planet! maybe we'll be able to open for you sometime at a show in the US. -mike of final myspace.com/final www.finalband.com (Reply to this) (Thread) |
