Hi I'm new. I'm a double major of Psych and Religion. Right now I am getting started on an independant study on whether people with religion consider themselves happy, and also which particular group is the happiest. I figured I'd join this group because I love talking psychology and also it'd be nice to have people to ask for help once this study gets underway.

In psych the theory is that man is affect by chemical reactions and its environment and tangible things like that in religion wouldn't you be studying more about how the soul can over come the physical universe or are you just reading some sacred books and writing reports about them? I'm interested in how you juggle these two majors because since the arrival of psychology religions have been supressed more and more often by governments and groups who wish to disregard religions? I study the practice and psychology of religion, the history of religions and how religion affects mankind today. Also I disagree with a lot of psychological theory that man is only influenced by tangible things, I see how that makes sense but I think there's a lot more out there. It's actually easier than one would think to study both, because they kind of compliment each other and each provide two different explanations for why things are the way they are.
