    Boggo Road Jail
Dutton Park is mainly a residential area, lying approximately five kilometres to the south of Brisbane. It was so named in honour of Charles B. Dutton, who was Queensland’s Public Lands Minister in the 1880s. The suburb’s close neighbours are South Brisbane, Woolloongabba, and Fairfield.
The fact that Dutton Park is close to Brisbane’s CBD makes it an attractive proposition for visitors and prospective tenants. At the same time, its river frontage is another great attraction for families. Property management Brisbane can supply details in respect of rental opportunities in this popular suburb. This charming inner suburb’s population is approximately 1,400, with a high percentage in the 18 to 49 age group. The resident’s are predominantly young professionals who have opted for Dutton Park as their home base. A variety of house styles are available; these include delightfully renovated cottages and exclusively designed homes.
Parents with young children have the Dutton Park Preschool and Dutton Park Primary School on their doorsteps, as well as St Ita’s Primary School, which is a long established catholic school that dates back to 1919. Nearby educational institutions are the John Oxley College and Brisbane Muslim School, which are both in Woolloongabba. This suburb is also home to the Narbethong State Special School, which offers education for children with vision and hearing impairments.
The South Brisbane Cemetery is a well known landmark that looks out to the Brisbane River. It is more popularly called Dutton Park Cemetery. Incidentally, it is one of the oldest cemeteries in Brisbane and it is listed as a Queensland heritage site. Yet another heritage site in Dutton Park is the infamous prison that was known as the Boggo Road Jail, although its official name was Brisbane Jail. The actor/wrestler, Nathan Jones was imprisoned there, where he also became familiar with powerlifting and soon became Australia’s National Powerlifting champion.
Although there are general shopping areas in Dutton Park, additional major shopping complexes are in the nearby areas. These are in South Brisbane and Woolloongabba, whilst Fairfield Gardens and the Buranda Shopping Centre are the two main shopping attractions. Several business opportunities are available in these complexes for which information can be accessed from a property manager Brisbane. An agency that is focused on property management will provide professional advice regarding business properties and home rentals in Dutton Park and its surrounding suburbs.
Brisbane is popularly acknowledged as being one of Australia’s most liveable cities. Living close by in one of its picturesque suburbs is an added advantage.
