Notice of New Policy
Recently, it's become necessary to cover ourselves legally in a few ways.
One of those ways applies to role play journals. After much discussion and
tossing around of ideas, we decided that, instead of going on a mass
suspension spree and getting rid of all the role play journals, we would
require all role play accounts to have a disclaimer instead.

The rules for the disclaimer are simple.

-You MUST use the disclaimer found here:
http://www.blurty.com/talkread.bml?journal=abuse&itemid=198819. No other
disclaimer will be acceptable. IT MUST BE OUR DISCLAIMER.

-The disclaimer must appear on BOTH the userinfo page of your
journal/community AND the main journal page. The easiest way to do this is
by posting it in an entry and dating it several years in the future, however
it doesn't matter how you post it, as long as it always appears somewhere on
the main journal page in an easy to read font and font size.

-You have until November 18th to ensure that you have the disclaimers posted
in the proper places on your journal/community. After that date,
non-compliant journals are subject to suspension, until the owner of the
journal/community contacts the ABuse Team and agrees to post the disclaimer.


-You must understand that if we are contacted by the management of the
celebrity/owner of the copyrighted material/etc of whomever you are
roleplaying, we have no choice but to suspend your journal. It doesn't
happen very often, but it has happened before.

That's it! We know it's a bit of a drag, but this is what we have to do to
be legally compliant as far as roleplay journals go.

We also want to remind you that Blurty is a site for users who are over the
age of 18 ONLY. It's stated plainly on the account creation page, and you
must check a box verifying that you are 18 when you sign up for your
account. Accounts that are found to be held by users under the age of 18
will continue to be permanently suspended. . We understand that the age
policy is something that a lot of you have a problem with, however, it is
not going to change.

	Congrats! This is the first journalling community I know of, to address the issue of all the prolific role playing blogs. Thanks for doing something about it. Don't look at me.. I am one of "those" people who roleplays, and I think the idea is a lovely one. A responsible roleplayer will disclaimer the journal on principle anyway, just so they don't mislead people who might not have had their reality check cashed. And it's smart in this lawsuit-happy era of ours. Holy shiz! I just found this kid on here that is freakin'....in 6th grade! That even violates COPPA! Granted....I know I'm not 18 yet...but you guys said you wouldn't suspend the early adopters right...I think. Either way.. This kid must be eleven or something. 	So this means that now if I find a rpg journal and they don't have this disclaimer, they can be suspended? I found one a few days ago (wasn't aware that it was a rpg) and reported it. I give a thumbs down on the age policy, i am 19 my self but i know a 15 year old and a 12 year old who write on these, where else are they going to write? I don't no any other site they can.. but seriously it's a really stupid idea to limit this site to adults only considering it not a pornography oriented site. There's really nothing here that someone is going to be surprised of.. its not like people are writing santa clause isn't real.. no one is really talking about where babies come from.. so seriously lay off the underaged kids and let them do there thing. -MANFRA (Reply to this) (Thread)

	I have a question : If you are not a member of a blurty Role-Playing community, Role Playing on another medium entirely (say AOL) but you keep a journal for your character on here simply to aid in character development (all original characters mind you) then are you subject to needing this disclaimer or is this strictly for the RP communities on Blurty?
