Remember how when Elena was a baby, I posted pictures of her each month wearing only a diaper and with the changing duck as a reference?* We thought we'd try it again with Jasper. We didn't quite make it on his 1 month birthday, but we took pictures on his due date (March 5). The changing duckie looks huge, which is partially because Jasper is so tiny and partially because it was never really a good frame of reference anyway. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() He has started looking and acting more like a regular newborn. And more like an Allred newborn, at that (i.e. getting super fussy and demanding). He still sleeps more than Elena did though, and doesn't hate car rides. So we've been getting out a lot lately. That mostly just makes people tell us how cute he is and how we shouldn't take a teeny tiny baby out in the harsh cruel world, but what are you going to do. And here are some photos of what the other monkey has been up to lately.** Elena in the baby sling: ![]() Elena posing with Ammon and Jasper in front of her "facity facity workshop": ![]() Elena after her haircut yesterday: ![]() She still adores her baby brother and is extremely sweet to him. She is generally very loving lately, which either is a spillover effect from her love for Jasper, or perhaps from her love for a kindergartener from her school who she talks about non-stop. Elena's conversations consist most of calling us us almost exclusively by our first names and asking us how old Ryan will be when she is whatever age and telling us various things she is going to show Ryan or how she is going to invite him (and only him) to her birthday party. We have refrained (so far) from using this as a disciplinary tactic (e.g., "Ryan doesn't like it when you are so annoying"), but we might get desperate. The other day when she was being difficult getting in the car and Ammon was getting exasperated and sighed, she said, "Ammon, this is NOT getting rijiculous." Oh, and she also always talks about death. That's our girl for you. *That link (which is the original irrational midget fear post) would have been better if the photos were actually there. But you can imagine what it must have looked like. Also, on looking back, we didn't start using the changing duck until she was 5 months old.**Ammon will again have to forgive me for being prominently featured in these.
