    The midget and the giant?
Remember how I used to be afraid that Elena was a midget? I talked about it here and here, among other places. I am now ALREADY afraid that baby boy is going to be a giant. The main reason is that he insists on lodging his foot in between my ribs on a regular basis, making me want to gasp in pain except for that he is cutting off my ability to breathe deeply. This is despite the fact that after the whole incident landing me in the hospital on Christmas Eve, his head is engaged*, which at least in Elena's case, made her so much lower that she never kicked my ribs or affected my breathing. It doesn't help that I'm stuck on the couch/bed all the time, so can't really get in a good position to alleviate the pain.

The other reason I think he will likely be gigantic is that we have bought an ENORMOUS amount of baby boy clothes in size 0-3 months. We did this because (1) it is fun to shop and (2) we don't want to have to shop all the time when he is a newborn like we did with Elena. Elena was in her 0-3 clothes for probably 6 months. So this is a purely superstitious reason, but that's how I roll.**

So my worries have climbed to a new level, and so early. Pretty soon I'll start having fears about cat-stabbing.

*meaning, ready to come down the exit hatch
** for instance, I believe that we will not have any more premature hospital emergencies because Ammon packed overnight bags for me and Elena

First of all, cat-stabbing is real*. It affects everyone**. It is something to fear***.

Second, I understand about the kicking. Harper kicked me constantly in the ribs and it didn't get any better until I actually gave birth. In fact, she broke one of my ribs AFTER she had already engaged. If my back hadn't have hurt so much I definitely would have complained about the ribs more.

*And by real I mean totally unrealistic and crazy.

**And by everyone I mean me.

***And by something to fear I mean something to laugh at.

I've had some gruesome worries lately, so cat-stabbing seems sort of mild. Also I've had conscious thoughts of cat-stabbing (as in considered doing it).

How big was she when she was born? Elena was only 19 inches, so I guess that's why she never got my ribs.

Sometimes adopting sounds better and better to someone who has never dealt with broken ribs and cat-stabbing.

Hahaha.

I wonder if those fears happen to women who are adopting just because of instinct of if they are hormonal. Hmmm...

This is really terrible but this couple at church had a boy naturally and then just adopted a little girl. The boy is the devil* so we think that's why they've decided to adopt. Isn't that an awful thing to think? Not that they were trying to help the world or something.

*Devil as in totally annoying and slightly weird..which is all their fault because they let him get away with doing strange things...ie crawling all over the floor (in the front row) during the gospel. Or forcing his dad to put him on his shoulders during every single song and freaking out if he happens to say no. It's weird because they are a "together" couple..they always look nice and they kind of seem yuppyish. Catholic church is supposed to be fairly traditional...even in our sort of liberal teen mass...but SERIOUSLY TELL YOUR KID TO CAN IT!

Haha, this comment made me laugh out loud. It may be true about the adoption... I know someone who adopted her second child because she had such bad post-partum depression with her first and because her first has ADD so bad. Kind of sad when you write it, but I think funny as well.

Don't they have a place for rambunctious children to go during Catholic mass? Every time I've gone to mass (weddings, so maybe different), the children are always eerily well behaved.
