Welcome to Hogwarts. I hope you'll be very happy here.

I can't think of anything to say about Gilderoy that wouldn't sound like gossip or be bitchy in the extreme, so I'll just say that you need to learn to take his opinions with a pinch of salt. There's no real malice in him - but you won't find that he's very popular around here. *shrugs* Maybe we should all be a little more tolerent of his eccentricities bearing in mind his unfortunate accident with the memory charm, but he can be a little wearing after a while.

I'm sure the rest of the staff'll be along to welcome you soon. If you need anything just give one of us a shout.

Oh and be careful of the staircases - they've been very mischievous recently (if masonry can be said to be anything). Try to keep an eye on them or you're likely to end up miles from where you wanted to be.

Hello Professor Moran, how very nice to meet you! I'm sure that I will be settled into the swing of things in no time. As for Lockheart, I've already made a note to take most of the things he says with a pinch of salt, as you so wisely advised me, but if he desires someone's ear to bend, and I happen to be there, then well... And I do my best to make decisions according to my own mind, that way I'm the only one to blame if something goes wrong. :-) And thank you for reminding me about the staircases; I do remember them being a slight source of trouble for me when I was in school. They do tend to change at inconvenient moments, don't they? For me, usually when I was in a hurry and not paying particular attention to where I was going.
