    Mer.
The Student Activities Board does not like my idea of a Medievalists club. They think we should join the Classics Club instead. Evidently the classical period is the only period of history worthy of having a club.

I suspect the Classics Club would try to run us off as a bunch of barbarians who burned all the interesting books and not be terribly impressed by it having gotten better later.

Sigh. To appeal, or not to appeal? I bet they'll junk our appeal, anyway.

Oh, and I don't know what other clubs were accepted in this round of applications over mine, but this school already has a "New Englanders for America" club, a "Pop Music Lovers" club, a "Poltergeist" club, the nature of which is not explained, an "Iranian Jewish" club, a "Leadership through Literature" club, and a "Fashion Business" club.

Come with me to the next History Society meeting, hon - I'll put you in contact with the two grad student medievalists. See what you can do then.

Clearly, the Student Activities Board wouldn't know a good idea if it bit them in the ass.

There's a Classics club?  Hmmm... do you think they have toga parties?  I'd join for that reason alone.  Not that I'm deserting the Medievalists, hell no, my loyalty is to you guys, even though our club is as yet nonexistent.

Don't they always make a big deal about how students clubs are encouraged at NYU, and all you need to start one is at least three people and an idea?  Though I guess I'm not surprised that they're a bunch of lying bastards.  Having said that, however, this Poltergeist club sounds mildly intriguing.

Perhaps there are too many clubs already? At WU, I know there were like 200+ my sophomore year, and they were trying to divide $60K\semester up among them. Since groups like the CLA and the Association of Racists required thousands of dollars, they were quick to de-register any group that didn't do stuff. And as far as creating a group was concerned, you had to prove you could draw a crowd before ever getting any recognition or funding.
