High school kids make mistakes... Lots of mistakes. But have you ever made a mistake that caused someone to die? In this story, our (unnamed) narrator tells us how he, his brother Kyle, and two other boys made the mistake of a lifetime. As they were driving around in a snow storm -- after a party during which they got drunk and high -- they hit a pedestrian. Sure they called 911, and two of them stayed with the guy until the ambulance came, but none of them waited to talk to the police. Now, they are stuck between two very different choices -- (1) just keep pretending that nothing happened or (2) turn themselves in and face the consequences. What would you do? A haunting and compelling read.
