According to Webster
OMG when I say work is a snoozer, it really is! Phones are quiet today so I have asked for projects. There are none available. So . . . to avoid complete burnout due to lack of stimulation, I went online. I spent some time here:
WEBSTER ONLINE
I have read all about the history of words today! My boss came and looked at what site I was on out of curiousity, then he went around and asked everyone if they had anything at all for me to do as he had nothing.
I still have four hours to go after I go back (I'm on lunch). ZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.
It's scary. I mean, how long are they going to want to pay me to surf the net?
I'm going to offer to do mailings, work on the web site, graphics including a logo design, etc. - things I can do between busy phone times.

Hey, I remember back in the earlier days of my last job, when I was 'just' the executive assistant, having bored days myself. So I would scramble to find creative things that would help the company out. Next thing I knew, I was in charge of all the public relations materials, the company web site, AND all of the computer equipment. That was cool; I enjoyed THAT, but then the computer end of it got to be too much and I ended up the official geek. ICKY. So, by all means, make yourself look needed, but be careful that you don't show off TOO many of your talents! ;-)
Oh and hey, if you ever do come to WI for brewery tours or whatnot, I know the perfect host (me!).
You know what? I just got a great idea.... one week this summer when my kids are at their dads, I'll have to arrange for someone to critter-sit for me and spend the entire week going to several of my favorite state parks that just happen to be conveniently located near some really cool microbreweries and wineries. Of course, the three I'm thinking of right off the bat are all WAY far away from each other, but hey, it's a dream. It'd be awesome to mix camping and hiking with indulgence!
Here's a suggestion for you at work--find some of their PR stuff that they already have and show your boss how much better you can make it. That always worked for me and got me into some cool projects. Oh, and drink lots of coffee *grin*.(Reply to this) (Thread) |
