MArmite is a disgusting thing you spread on bread or toast- a vegetable/yeast mixture thing. The alternative is Bovril, which I prefer.
Bovril can also be made into a hot drink, but I've never done that. They have strong tastes.
Marmite for ages had an ad campaign that said "You either love it or you hate it". It's also universally acknowledged that you're either a Marmite or Bovril fan, but never both.
