如何交代最近做過的事
論文這條粉腸又來了。距離上次讓馬生看了有粗口字的論文大綱，又過了十五日。
我花了兩天時間將約十張單面紙寫成的手稿輸入電腦，現在電腦裡的文字檔案有四千三百字，佔該論文大綱預計內容三分之一左右。單面紙平均每日寫一張，每張約二三百字，有些略短。有時執筆忘字，以空格或一團東西代替。
約第五日開始，我開始計算如何在八月底抽時間去旅行。地點本是無可動搖的台灣，但美爾熱到失去知覺地回港，於是決定一路向北，暫定是北海道。從港大圖書館借出中二時看過的渡邊淳一的小說，裡面提到七十年代北海道大學在紋別市的流冰研究所，上網一看，大前年已遷回札幌。還有一現役研究所成員記錄研究所近況，並與書中情節互為對照。
在這十五日期間我突然開始畫畫。塗鴉的欲望在某日拿起馬生於《選舉初體驗》屝頁中的編者近照對著畫後開始一發不可收拾，買了一本小畫簿和三本教授素描和色筆畫的書回家，又找出了好久沒碰的廿四色顏色筆，花了一個晚上的時間畫畫畫。除馬生外，被畫的可憐人還包括少爺仔、陳家傑及鄧鍵七。有人建議，我的論文口試宣傳海報上，可加上各位評審委員的卡通像。也是的，那些氣球框線和禮物框線好似已用了好多年。
我又突然化身為環保分子，冒死寫信予一年青貌美的教授，建議她以抽濕機取代冷氣機來保持房間乾爽，以節省用電。經過數輪電郵往來，推推搪搪，虛與委蛇，事情還是不了了之。經此一陣，完成論文之心突然強烈起來，彷彿與其與她糾纏及故作溝通交流，不如早早完成論文趕畢業後眼不見為淨。
變得犬儒竟是完成論文的捷徑，真諷刺。缺席的，又何止這些。
快要踏進第十六日。作為沒有出路的第四代香港人，我唯有開工。
