My Heart Speaks (iwishyouknew) wrote,

    Recently, I am tired
Mom asked, "what time are you going to vote on Tuesday?" I look at her and think, "Why can't she see I am tired." I mean heck I've worked all day long and she wants to know what time I'm going to vote. I really, really wanted to ask, "Why just so you can see that I voted the right way?" It's odd that she'd ask. just on the cusp of me actually thinking that I wasn't going to vote at all. I mean seriously, I can't stand how dead fast most of my friends are in picking one candidate over the other. If that one wins, our Northern neighbor looks like a good place to live, I mean really should it be that drastic? Oh I hate our new/or re-elected President, I'm moving. This election year has made me weary beyond belief. I don't think that any election year has been so volitle, with so many different types of passionate people. Maybe I wasn't feeling it in years past. I don't see how my life will be any different Wendsday, than it will be on Tuesday.

I want to ask anyone who can tell me honestly. Has any election for a president significantly changed their life, if the incumbant won or a new pres was elected. I don't care who you wanted to win, did anything change?

I remember being a little girl in front of the TV just hoping that Ford would win. I didn't want him to win because of anything he did for me, but I wanted him to win because he was the very first Pres. I knew. To this day there has not been one single presidnet elected that changed my life at all. There has not been a single Pres, that changed any of my family members lives either for that matter.

Yet for some reason this year the elections are more heated. Why? Honestly, tell me what is going to change? Will we still be in Iraq? Will terrorists still threaten up, like they have for many many years? Will there still be people in Middle Eastern Countries who Hate all that America stands for? Will there be people in America who hate having to buy into our country? Won't there still be people who hate the amount of taxes they have to pay, but gladly cash in their refund year after year?

In the end I will go to bed just like I do every night. I will wake up in the morning, get dress and stumble off to work. I will struggle to pay my light bill and the phone bill. I will curse the fact that yet again, my EX hasn't paid his child support, and fucks my Ex best friend on a regular basis.

On November 3rd, we may have the same president or a new one, but my day has already been planned and nothing is going to change the plans that have been made. I'm still going to love my kids, and they will still love me. I'm still going to pay a buck ninety a gallon to fill my gas tank, and wish the prices would go down. I'll feel comfort that at the end of the day, I will still go to bed in the exact same place I have for so long. I will still drift off to sleep thankful I live in a country that respects the decisions the people make for our nation. My kids will wake up and go to their same schools, with the same teachers they have seen for many years.

If you can, tell me how your life will change if one pres is elected over the other? What would be the significant difference?

I couldnt agree with you more right now. I am so damned frustrated in this year's mud slinging and ignorant hate spewing mongers out there. People have the right to have their opinion and their personal views of the electors but does it really have to be THAT hateful?? How do you have solid proof that if Kerry wins, he will change everything or if Bush is re elected that we will be ok? You really dont. You just follow your gut, align with who represents your own beliefs and be done. You hope and pray for a better tomorrow but I can say, too, that I have not been directly affected by any change or static elector.

Side note: I can not wait to vote tomorrow!! It is my very first time and I want this to be done. The finger pointing is so old now! Dont you agree?

Well... yes I can give you some ideas. Several matter of fact. I'll touch briefly on the changes I expereinced. Last election... and ongoing four years. I've lost benefits at work... dental, life, health, paid time off (nonprofilt human services agency), I've seen families fall apart with cut benefits to physically disabled, chronically ill and mentallly incompacitation individuals. I've experienced cuts in my childrens education, especially becuase they are developmentally delayed. I've seen the cost of heating oil soar leaving many families without heat. I've seen gas prices hit all time highs making it impossible for those traveling to work in rural areas make ends meet. I've seen funding to subsidized childcare cut. I've seen America become a symbol of greed around the world. I've seen such lack of compassion for those in need.

I've heard so many times... I came from a poor struggling back ground and I made it so others should have the same capability. *shrugs* I was also one of those who made it. Thank you God for giving me the ability to do so. And yes the system experiences abuse, and those abusing should be punished. But you know what.... God didn't make us with equal intelligence, so some need little help and education to become functioning members of society.

Now... dont get me wrong.... this election year has been horrible. I cant ever remember having an candidate that was perfect for the job. It always seems like the lesser of two evils and that just sucks! I dont expect to wake up Wed and see any changes in my life or any others. But hopefully, if we're lucky, it will be an opportunity to take this country in a new, positive direction.

*gasps* I always try not to talk politics because no matter what it ends up someone gets upset or hurt, so I avoid it like the plague... *cringes* but you asked, sorry.

I agree with several of your examples...

particularly, the I've seen such lack of compassion for those in need. because I've seen some this first hand myself - first with my wife getting laid off twice in these past four years, my financial aid to help me buy new hearing aids (which cost about $800 each for 'inexpensive' ones I need) which are now four years older and becoming obsolete, and my health care benefits get ripped to shreds and the costs have only gone up, had my job stop giving even cost of living increases...

I always try not to talk politics because no matter what it ends up someone gets upset or hurt, so I avoid it like the plague...

Yep, so did I, (not talk politics) along with the subjects of religion and war, but oddly everybody else keeps insisting that I do anyway, so now no place I go seems safe...

Well, here's hoping for a more positive change of direction... (Assume crash positions!) :)

No, I haven't. I prayed about it, and God is handling it for me, After all you know He has the devine plan for me and my life.
