Internet Literacy
The definition of internet literacy is pretty damn broad and i cant see how to narrow it down in the least. Techies would say that being able to make a webpage is the signature of being literate online. An old person may view using a search engine as being literate. I personally think that if you can use the internet to find ANY information that you are looking for and then show others how to do it,you are literate online. This includes a practical use of the computer hardware of course, like the mouse and the keyboard and the monitor...so on. Beyond the use of the computer a working understanding of e-mail would be included in my definition of internet literacy. Of course being able to use links, search engines and news services is also important. I think everyone with access to the internet should be literate in the use of it. This is because the internet is such a great tool for keeping up to date with news and information that is available anywhere on earth. The internet can be used to meet people that can be sources of even more information. Eventually i forsee that in our "world culture" the internet will be very commonplace, as the t.v. is today and everyone will know how to access it and use it to their advantage, which is a good thing.

interesting post. do you think the definition of internet literacy will change after a while to something closer to what "techies" consider it? some schools are already accepting HTML as a "language" that you can take in school to fulfill requirements. someday will we all be typing in HTML instead of English?
