Happy birthday to my journal :)
It turned 1 year old yesterday. And I forgot all about it until now (and only remembered cos specialaupps posted about his..) poor thing.

Today is the 11th November. That means there are still 6 weeks or so till Christmas. Far too early to get the tree up, you'd think?

Not around here. Particularly on the council estate the bus goes through on its way to uni. There are at least two houses with trees up and decorated, and theyve also covered every inch of greenery in their front gardens with lights and plastic crap.

Why? Maybe its just me and the fact that I really don't like Christmas, but surely the decorations should wait until at least December?
The decorations have been up in the city centre for a few weeks now, but at least they haven't been switched on yet.

Things like this really annoy me. People are such fools.

You're right. There's no need for Christmas to start so early - I'm sure it's earlier this year than ever before. The lights were on last night as I walked home. It's too much!

hehe happy birthday to your journal :) Now you've made me want to go and check mine.

I agree about the Christmas thing - I can understand (sorta) why shops start preparing early, but seriously, houses?! That's just stupid! Last year my neighbours got lights and a Christmas tree up in October and everyone who walked past laughed at it, right up till December, when most of the other houses had too so it didn't look out of place. Seriously, if it was me I'd post a calender through their door with the date clearly circled :p

Happy Birthday =) Christmas is just another excuse to make you feel guilty about not wanting to buy presents for people who will just lose, break, or hate them anyway... and then hating all that time wasted with people who you barely even know simply because they have some stake on you as their kin.... cutting down a tree and whining about having to clean the pine needles off the carper... it belongs outside where it would naturally shed its excess needles! do you think squirrels get together to whine about pine needles?? no! because they live outside where pine trees grow and are supposed to stay unless used for building or firewood.... and then to spend hours wrapping gifts when the paper just gets thrown away and makes less space at already overfilling landfills... and all the food - ok, I dont really have a problem with most of the food... but it takes so long to cook and everyone always goes so insane about timing and keeping people out of the kitchen and its just so...grah! in this modern age, why cant we just get rid of these needless stressors and just keep to ourselves outside times of emergency? bah humbug!
