Words are my specialty. I'm an editor, writer, pain in the rump!

These are word associations. Look at tenacious and bulldog. You've used the dictionary, but think a little beyond the dictionary, think of the connotations as well as the literal meaning. Tenacious, doesn't let go. One of the sayings we've got these days is that someone is like a bulldog, once they sink their teeth into something, they never let go. Now look at your list of answers and think about the traits of each creature and try to define them into one word. Monkeys are known to be playful and sort of crazy. Mules are stubborn. Bees are hard workers. Mice are cute and fuzzy or diseased vermin, your choice. Which one fits the best? Diligent is to bee.

Look bland and sardonic. Bland is what? Boring, plain. Sardonic is what? Mocking, disdainful. How do these two words relate to each other? Think beyond meaning and into relationships. Superfluous and unnecessary are synonyms. Inanimate and incessant are? Inanimate is unmoving and incessant never ceases. Fated and predetermined are synonmys. Dowdy and prim are antonyms. What are boring and sardonic? Which answer fits best? Inanimate and incessant.

Incorrible and unfavorable is a pretty simple one. How do the words relate to each other? Incorrigible is a trait and unfavorable means it's not good. Look at the answers. They are all traits or descriptions paired up with a wod that is either good or bad. If incorrigible is unfavorable, that means you're looking for a description that is accurately mated with favorable or unfavorable. Is tenacious good or bad? Credible? Ghastly? Lucid? Got it? Thought so. Tenacious and favorable.

Doleful and grief? How do these words relate to each other? They're synonyms. Sort of. So you're looking for a set of words that are synonymous. Intrepid is an antonym to fear. Irate is a synonym to anger. Brazen is bold and envy is jealousy, they don't relate at all. Morose is an antonym to joy. The answer? Irate and anger.

See how this works? Cool.

The answer to the first is lucid and muddled.
