    GM may make nearby cars FFV
    The new Captiva is the 2nd mass-production FFV following the Mitsubishi Lancer Ex within the Thai marketplace that can run on all kinds of petrol up to E85, a combination of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline.

    The Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan and Aveo subcompact will be the up coming E85-compatible designs.

    "We can not validate right now when we will start them," said Martin Apfel, president of GM Southeast Asia Operations, GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand.

    Wanchana Unakul, director of product, said it took about 2 yrs for GM to build up and produce the first Captiva FFV model because it needed to get ready technologies, engineering and execution processes.

    Mr Apfel said hello was crucial for GM to develop and manufacture autos running on option fuels, especially E85 vehicles because the fuel is affordable and environmentally friendly. More importantly, he explained, the fuel comes from the farm items that are abundant locally, which will help enhance farmers' incomes.

    Aside from E85 cars, GM also generates an Aveo running on compressed natural gas.

    Regardless of GM's readiness to produce FFVs, E85 is available only at 23 PTT and Bangchak stations nationwide.

    GM urged oil firms to expand E85 refuelling stations to support increasing number of FFVs.

    As well, he said, PTT was powering agenda in the intend to create one hundred CNG stations. "We urge PTT to expand fuel outlets to meet its strategy." he explained.

    Antonio Zara, vice-president of sales, advertising and marketing and aftersales, said the new Captiva sported a new look and enhanced efficiency with a 2.4-litre inline four-cylinder gasoline engine.

    Costs rage from 1.198 million to 1.58 million baht, and the public start will be held at Siam Paragon from July 29-31.

    Mr Apfel stated GM hopes to market 3,000 units from the new Captiva by the end of the 12 months. The old Captiva design was selling at 300 models monthly on average.

    Chevrolet has set a general product sales goal this season at 45,000 to fifty,000 models, which may double its market share to in between 4.6% and 5% from last year. It assignments general car product sales this season at 920,000 units, across the forecasts of many others in the market.
