    When introverts talk
Guess what happens when introverts talk? It happens often to me when I call up my very good friend U in LA. Goes something like this:
    I: Hello !
    U: Hi
    I: Guess who's here
U: Yaar thoda aur bol to maloom padega
(Point to note - I am probably the only friend who calls him and asks him to guess and that happens everytime and still he takes his own time to try to identify me)
    I: mumble mumble
    U: Oh! X ?
I: Nahi yaar ek aur guess..
    U: Y ?
    I: Nope, it's A. :(
    U: Arre !!
I: Aur kya chal raha hai ?
    U: Bas theek
    I: Anything new ?
    U: Nothing yaar
    10 seconds of continental static
    U: How about you ?
I: Bas mera bhi theek chal raha hai
    U: Hmm..
    I: Hmm..
    I: Aur sunao
U: Kuch naya nahi hai yaar
I: Suna bhai ka engagement ho gaya ?
U: Haan yaar last week hua
    I: Achcha Achcha
    U: Haan
I: Aur koi nayi khabar ? Job search kaisi chal rahi hai ?
U: Kuch nahi yaar, general chal raha hai
    I: Hmm
    U: Haan
    20 seconds of intercontinental static
I: Aur aaj ka kya program hai ?
    U: Kuch nahi yaar
    I: Oh! Achcha Achcha
    U: Hmm
    I: Baki sab kaisa ?
    U: Bas theek
    I: Hmm
I: Uncle Aunty kaise hain ?
    U: Theek thaak
    I: Hmm
    U: Hmm
    I: Hmm
    U: Hummmm
    I: Aur batao
U: Bas chal raha hai yaar, tum sunao
I: Mera bhi chal raha hai
    U: Hmm
    I: Hummmmm
I: Chalo fir baat karte hain
    U: ok
    I: ok bye !
    U: bye

    -------------

The case is even worse in case of family on my Father's side. My dad and my uncle are the deadliest of introverts. Imagine meeting your brother after 2 years and what do you have to say ?
    Nothing!
They'd sit in 2 different corners of the room, searching for words to talk.
Each one diving deep into a chasm of ideas to look for topics to talk about.
Suddenly there would be a stacatto burst of a few words on a topic and then a silent mutual consonance.
Sometimes I really wondered if they had telepathic abilities and that they just communicated in muteness!

When young, I used to laugh at such a scenario !
    Not anymore though.

Everytime after talking to my friend U, I realize the eloquence of muteness : how important it is to listen for thoughts in silence rather than words that ring hollow.
Now I realize what my dad and uncle used to do.
Now I know when introverts talk.

There was a lot of 'hmmmm's in that conversation :D I sometimes have conversations like that, with a cousin of mine. Whenever I try to start a conversation by asking her something, she answers and goes quiet again. It's frustrating at times.. :)

Hey Abhi.............i know exactlywhat you mean....i consider myself an introvert for when i was young n my cousins or aunts used to call me i would greet and wait for them to start the conversation or rather be glad if they don't. I have not changed much but however i think i have managed to come out of that loop...

We are social animals and we need to communicate....i might not have a need to express myself for i have other means such as writing or through other medium but ppl do like to share their experience or just talk in general...so why not get involved.....

Good talking to ya........Anu
