Language barriers!
It is very frustrating to be in a country where I am completely illiterate. There are a lot of signs with English on them along with the Japanese that give us the general idea of what they are about, but many times I have to guess. It is amazing how different the Japanese grammar structure is from English -- I can tell because the words are almost always translated correctly, but the way they are put together is sometimes very amusing. Here it is a kind of status symbol or coolness symbol to wear a shirt with English writing on it (just like we buy clothing with Japanese characters in America). But the messages are usually gibberish, and it`s fun to read them. We call it "Engrish" but hey, we have no justification to poke fun!
